International Journal of Pedagogies and Learning, 2009Teachers can use cloze tests to help students develop proficiency in reading, vocabulary, grammar, and listening. Cloze Generator (CG), a software program developed by the authors, inserts blanks automatically in a text for each n-th word, for a certain part of speech, or for a certain level of vocabulary based on the JACET8000 word list.

Cloze and Intersentential Constraint
Journal of Research in Reading, 1984ABSTRACTThe sensitivity of cloze items to constraint outside the sentence was examined using a sample of 70 students from a Further Education College. Responses to cloze items in natural passages were superior to identical items in passages where the sentence order had been randomized in an attempt to destroy intersentential constraint.
