Superconductive Effects in Thin Cluster Films

2012
In this thesis, the superconductive and superresistive properties of thin percolating films of lead nanoclusters are presented. The samples were created by depositing clusters from an inert gas aggregation cluster source onto substrates held at either room temperature or 10K.

Surface diffusion of clusters and thin film growth

Surface Science, 1995
An analogy between the behavior of real gases and the behavior of clusters deposited on a surface has been established. A relation similar to the Van der Waals equation was used, with the variables corresponding to the deposition process. It was found that the critical parameters and the Boyle temperature of the substrate define the conditions of a ...

Slowing down of hydrogen clusters in thin foils

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1992
Abstract We present experimental results for the energy loss in carbon of 10 to 120 keV/proton H n + clusters (up to n =25). Special attention is given to the ratio between the total energy loss of a H n + cluster and the total energy loss of n individual protons of the same velocity.

A typology of declining clusters in thin regions: socioeconomic challenges and policy responses

This chapter investigates cluster decline in thin regions by considering broader socioeconomic challenges beyond institutional and firm-specific aspects. While clusters in thick regions benefit from a critical mass of actors and knowledge, facilitating new path developments, clusters in thin regions face lock-in situations and limited opportunities for

Formation of Magnetic Clusters in Perpendicular Thin Films

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2006
The formation and growing process of magnetic clusters in perpendicular thin films were investigated using micromagnetic simulation. Two estimation methods of cluster size were proposed. CS(area) was defined as the diameter of the circle which has the same area as the reversed region.

Capture of adatoms by clusters in thin film deposition

Journal of Crystal Growth, 1977
The adatom diffusion and capture by clusters are considered as a random-walk problem. The method of solution is developed. Green's function for a square substrate lattice is obtained. This permits one to give a general solution for a steady-state adatom distribution around clusters and for Halpern's arrival probability.

Cluster Beam Deposition for Optical Thin Films

1988
A study has been carried out of the deposition of films of barium fluoride using cluster beam techniques. The effect of different aspects of the deposition process has been assessed including deposition temperature, cluster source geometry and acceleration voltage.
