Lattice cluster theory for dense, thin polymer films

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2015
While the application of the lattice cluster theory (LCT) to study the miscibility of polymer blends has greatly expanded our understanding of the monomer scale molecular details influencing miscibility, the corresponding theory for inhomogeneous systems has not yet emerged because of considerable technical difficulties and much greater complexity ...

Ionized cluster beam technique for thin film deposition

Zeitschrift für Physik D Atoms, Molecules and Clusters, 1986
The ionized cluster beam (ICB) technique can be classified as an ion-assisted technique for film formation, and it has the feature of transferring low energy and equivalently high current beams. The clusters can be created by condensation of supersaturated vapour atoms produced by an adiabatic expansion process.

Magnetism in Nanoclusters and Cluster-Assembled Thin Films

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2001
Increasing attention has been focused on the magnetic behavior of nanoparticles with diameters of 1-5 nm (approximately 50-5000 atoms). In this size range fundamental magnetic parameters such as the orbital and spin magnetic moments per atom deviate significantly from bulk values, and studying clusters addresses fundamental problems in mesoscopic ...

Alloy Thin Films from Discrete Metallaborane Clusters

MRS Proceedings, 1988
ABSTRACTThe ferraborane HFe4 (CO)12 BH2 sublimes at 50 °C and decomposes by loss of H2 and CO on various substrate surfaces at 160–180 °C to yield films having metallic appearances with typical thicknesses of 4000Å. These films are amorphous by X-ray, conduct electricity and adhere well to glass, metal and silicon substrates.

Cluster beam synthesis of nanostructured thin films

Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology A: Vacuum, Surfaces, and Films, 2001
The use of clusters as elemental building blocks can open routes toward the fabrication of a new class of nanostructured solids and devices. We report the synthesis of nanostructured films using supersonic cluster beam deposition. A new type of cluster source based on microplasma ablation has been developed.

Clusters on a Thin Quadratic Lattice (Transfer Matrix Technique)

Studies in Applied Mathematics, 1969
Formulae for the distribution of clusters of independently occupied sites on an n × 1, n × 2 and n × 3 quadratic lattice are derived by use of the transfer matrix technique. In principle, the formulae can be extended to an n × r lattice for arbitrary r. Both plane and cylindrical lattices are considered.

Superconductive Effects in Thin Cluster Films

2012
In this thesis, the superconductive and superresistive properties of thin percolating films of lead nanoclusters are presented. The samples were created by depositing clusters from an inert gas aggregation cluster source onto substrates held at either room temperature or 10K.

LEAF REMOVAL AND CLUSTER THINNING TRIALS IN AGLIANICO GRAPEVINE

Acta Horticulturae, 2007
Research has been carried out in “Aglianico del Vulture” production area in Rionero del Vulture county (Potenza province). In 2004 the following treatments has been compared: 1) leaf removal in the basal part of the shoot (from the first node to the one following to the last cluster) carried out at veraison time (50 % of coloured berries); 2) cluster ...

Ion cluster beam deposition of thin films

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1991
Abstract The idea of using energized ionized clusters of atoms to control the quality of thin film deposition is due to Takagi and his associates at Kyoto University. They have worked to develop and demonstrate the benefits of bringing selected energy and momentum to the surface of a growing solid film without involving any other atomic species than ...
