A Comprehensive Comparison of Different Clustering Methods for Reliability Analysis of Microarray Data

open access: yesJournal of Medical Signals and Sensors, 2013
In this study, we considered some competitive learning methods including hard competitive learning and soft competitive learning with/without fixed network dimensionality for reliability analysis in microarrays.

Automatic Clustering Using Multi-objective Particle Swarm and Simulated Annealing.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
This paper puts forward a new automatic clustering algorithm based on Multi-Objective Particle Swarm Optimization and Simulated Annealing, "MOPSOSA". The proposed algorithm is capable of automatic clustering which is appropriate for partitioning datasets

Psychometric properties, measurement invariance, and construct validity of the subjective career success inventory

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Psychology, 2022
With the increased scholarly interest in career success measurements, this study investigated the construct validity and measurement invariance of the Subjective Career Success Inventory. A sample of 736 South African employees participated in the study.

Mass accretion rates of clusters of galaxies: CIRS and HeCS

open access: yes, 2021
We use a new spherical accretion recipe tested on N-body simulations to measure the observed mass accretion rate (MAR) of 129 clusters in the Cluster Infall Regions in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (CIRS) and in the Hectospec Cluster Survey (HeCS).

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

SMAUG: a new technique for the deprojection of galaxy clusters

open access: yes, 2003
This paper presents a new technique for reconstructing the spatial distributions of hydrogen, temperature and metal abundance of a galaxy cluster. These quantities are worked out from the X-ray spectrum, modeled starting from few analytical functions ...

RaMBat: Accurate identification of medulloblastoma subtypes from diverse data sources with severe batch effects

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
To integrate multiple transcriptomics data with severe batch effects for identifying MB subtypes, we developed a novel and accurate computational method named RaMBat, which leveraged subtype‐specific gene expression ranking information instead of absolute gene expression levels to address batch effects of diverse data sources.

New Evaluation Method for Fuzzy Cluster Validity Indices

open access: yesIEEE Access
Cluster analysis is the process of associating data objects with classes of similar objects. One key aspect of the clustering problem is to determine the optimal number of groups on a data set to effectively partition it.

A new exponential cluster validity index using Jaccard distance [PDF]

open access: yesMuṭāli̒āt-i Mudīriyyat-i Ṣan̒atī, 2012
Estimating the optimal number of clusters in an unsupervisedpartitioning of data sets has been a challenging area in recent years. These indices usually use two criteria called compactness andseparation to evaluate the efficiency of the performed ...

An Internal Validity Index Based on Density-Involved Distance

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
It is crucial to evaluate the quality of clustering results in cluster analysis. Although many cluster validity indices (CVIs) have been proposed in the literature, they have some limitations when dealing with non-spherical datasets.
