The Isoperimetric Problem in Carnot-Caratéodory Spaces

open access: yesBruno Pini Mathematical Analysis Seminar, 2017
We present some recent results obtained on the isoperimetric problem in a class of Carnot-Carathéodory spaces, related to the Heisenberg group. This is the framework of Pansu’s conjecture about the shape of isoperimetric sets.

The Compound Muscle Action Potential as Neurophysiological Marker for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Objectives: To definite the peripheral nervous involvement in ALS through the repeated use of the compound motor action potential (CMAP) to test the progression of disease, to determine different change of phrenic CMAP and forced vital capacity (FVC) in

Intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring for Endoscopic Endonasal Approaches to the Skull Base: A Technical Guide. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring during endoscopic, endonasal approaches to the skull base is both feasible and safe. Numerous reports have recently emerged from the literature evaluating the efficacy of different neuromonitoring tests during

The Case of a 28‐Year‐Old Man With Gradually Progressive Proximal Leg Weakness

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This is a case of a 28‐year‐old man who presented with a 6‐month history of gradually progressive proximal leg weakness and pain that worsened on exercise and was relieved by rest. He had no symptoms in his upper limbs. Apart from intermittent mild ptosis and diplopia, he had no other cranial nerve symptoms.

From In‐Silico Optimized Microfabrication to Experimental Validation: Engineering a Tridimensional Epi‐Intraneural Interface

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An epi‐intraneural interface is developed through in silico optimization and a novel tridimensional microfabrication pipeline. The device integrates penetrating and epineural contacts on a flexible substrate. Mechanical, electrochemical, and in vivo testing in rat and pig reveal robust implantation, low‐threshold activation, and site‐dependent ...

Probing magnetic fields with multi-frequency polarized synchrotron emission [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We investigate the problem of probing the local spatial structure of the magnetic field of the interstellar medium using multi-frequency polarized maps of the synchrotron emission at radio wavelengths.

Self‐Assembling Peptide Hydrogels Support Stromal Vascular Fraction Viability to Promote In Vivo Nerve Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Stromal vascular fraction (SVF) may enhance nerve repair, especially when delivered in a self‐assembling peptide hydrogel (SAPH). In vitro, softer SAPH increased neuronal explant outgrowth and supported greater SVF viability and proliferation. In a rat sciatic defect, SVF in an optimized SAPH produced motor and sensory recovery equivalent to autograft ...

Influence of placement sites of the active recording electrode on CMAP configuration in the trapezius muscle

open access: yesClinical Neurophysiology Practice, 2018
Objective: We investigated how the active electrode placement site influences compound muscle action potential (CMAP) configuration of the upper trapezius muscle (TM).

Health Report [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This Plan for Health is an unusual undertaking in two respects. It is part of the Go To 2040 regional master plan along with other human services components that have, historically, been outside the purview of planners, who are usually more concerned ...

Mesenchymal Stem Cell‐Derived Apoptotic Micro‐Vesicles Repaired Sciatic Nerve Defect by Regulating Early Inflammatory Microenvironment and Promoting Angiogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
HUCMSC‐Apo‐mvs enhance peripheral nerve repair by modulating the inflammatory microenvironment (IME), primarily through coordinated actions on three functional cells. They recruit macrophages and promote their polarization from pro‐inflammatory M1 to anti‐inflammatory M2 phenotypes, increasing secretion of IL‐10 and VEGF.
