An explanation for origin unwinding in eukaryotes

open access: yeseLife, 2019
Twin CMG complexes are assembled head-to-head around duplex DNA at eukaryotic origins of replication. Mcm10 activates CMGs to form helicases that encircle single-strand (ss) DNA and initiate bidirectional forks.

Mcm10 promotes rapid isomerization of CMG-DNA for replisome bypass of lagging strand DNA blocks

open access: yeseLife, 2017
Replicative helicases in all cell types are hexameric rings that unwind DNA by steric exclusion in which the helicase encircles the tracking strand only and excludes the other strand from the ring.

Preharvest application of antagonistic yeasts for the control of fungal pathogens in organic peach and plum orchards

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 106, Issue 10, Page 5881-5889, 15 August 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND The control of fungal diseases in organic fruit production remains a major challenge due to the limited availability of authorized phytosanitary tools. This study evaluates the efficacy of two antagonistic yeasts – Metschnikowia pulcherrima L672 and Hanseniaspora uvarum L793 – in organic peach ( Prunus persica ) and plum ( Prunus ...

PVT1 lincRNA signals an androgen‐dependent transcriptional activation program of oncogenes in prostate cancer cells

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 159, Issue 1, Page 144-158, 1 July 2026.
What's New? Unraveling the networks that regulate androgen receptor (AR) function is critical to better understanding prostate cancer development and progression. Of particular interest in this regard is the long non‐coding RNA PVT1, which regulates gene expression in cancer and is upregulated in prostate tumors.

Comparison of postoperative vascularization between collagen matrix duraplasty and conventional duraplasty after direct bypass surgery in Moyamoya disease: A single-institute retrospective cohort study

open access: yesWorld Neurosurgery: X
Background: Moyamoya disease (MMD) is characterized by the development of collateral circulation through the dura mater and overexpression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFBGF).

A Shock‐Tube Study of the HCl + M →$\to $ H + Cl + M (M = Ar) Rate Constant Using HCl Laser Absorption Near 3.3 µm

open access: yesInternational Journal of Chemical Kinetics, Volume 58, Issue 7, Page 371-382, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Hydrogen chlorine (HCl) is an important combustion intermediate during plastic (municipal waste) and composite propellant (aerospace) combustion, but the understanding of its high‐temperature chemistry is still evolving. In this study, the pyrolysis of 0.5% HCl in Ar was investigated behind reflected shock waves in a shock tube at temperatures

Postural Control Deficits in Patients With Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyradiculoneuropathy Undergoing Immunomodulatory Therapy

open access: yesMuscle &Nerve, Volume 74, Issue 1, Page 68-76, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction/Aims Despite individuals with chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) often reporting impaired balance as a main concern, there is a lack of research characterizing balance impairments or evaluating whether immunomodulatory therapy improves balance.

Multiparametric Free‐Breathing 3D Whole‐Heart Cardiac MR for Anatomical Bright‐ and Black‐Blood Imaging With Co‐Registered T1/T2$$ {T}_1/{T}_2 $$ Myocardial Tissue Mapping at 0.55$$ 0.55 $$ T

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 39, Issue 7, July 2026.
Novel 3D CMR free‐breathing whole‐heart sequence demonstrated the feasibility of high‐resolution coronary angiography and simultaneous bright‐ and black‐blood imaging, together with joint T1/T2$$ {T}_1/{T}_2 $$ mapping despite the inherent limitations of low‐field strength at 0.55 T, suggesting its potential for comprehensive cardiac assessment in ...

Identification of ATP-Competitive Human CMG Helicase Inhibitors for Cancer Intervention that Disrupt CMG-Replisome Function

open access: yesMolecular Cancer Therapeutics
Abstract The human CMG helicase (Cdc45-MCM-GINS) is a novel target for anticancer therapy. Tumor-specific weaknesses in the CMG are caused by oncogene-driven changes that adversely affect CMG function, and CMG activity is required for recovery from replicative stresses such as chemotherapy.
