Proton-counting radiography for proton therapy: a proof of principle using CMOS APS technology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Despite the early recognition of the potential of proton imaging to assist proton therapy (Cormack 1963 J. Appl. Phys. 34 2722), the modality is still removed from clinical practice, with various approaches in development. For proton-counting radiography

Electron–Matter Interactions During Electron Beam Nanopatterning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This article reviews the electron–matter interactions important to nanopatterning with electron beam lithography (EBL). Electron–matter interactions, including secondary electron generation routes, polymer radiolysis, and electron beam induced charging, are discussed.

1T Pixel Using Floating-Body MOSFET for CMOS Image Sensors

open access: yesSensors, 2009
We present a single-transistor pixel for CMOS image sensors (CIS). It is a floating-body MOSFET structure, which is used as photo-sensing device and source-follower transistor, and can be controlled to store and evacuate charges.

In the quest of vision-sensors-on-chip: Pre-processing sensors for data reduction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This paper shows that the implementation of vision systems benefits from the usage of sensing front-end chips with embedded pre-processing capabilities - called CVIS.

MPI‐Guided Photothermal Therapy of Prostate Cancer Using Stem Cell Delivery of Magnetotheranostic Nanoflowers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Tumor‐tropic human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) were used as delivery vehicles for magnetotheranostic gold–iron oxide nanoflowers. Magnetic particle imaging of the iron component demonstrated widespread intratumoral distribution and sustained retention in contrast to injection of naked nanoflowers.

An Improved Model for the Full Well Capacity in Pinned Photodiode CMOS Image Sensors

open access: yesIEEE Journal of the Electron Devices Society, 2015
An improved analytical model for quantifying the full well capacity in pinned photodiode (PPD) CMOS image sensors is proposed. The model captures the characteristics of the realistic technology-induced vertical doping nonuniformity in photon sensing N ...

In Materia Shaping of Randomness with a Standard Complementary Metal‐Oxide‐Semiconductor Transistor for Task‐Adaptive Entropy Generation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study establishes a materials‐driven framework for entropy generation within standard CMOS technology. By electrically rebalancing gate‐oxide traps and Si‐channel defects in foundry‐fabricated FDSOI transistors, the work realizes in‐materia control of temporal correlation – achieving task adaptive entropy optimization for reinforcement learning ...

Influence of displacement damage dose on dark current distributions of irradiated CMOS image sensors [PDF]

open access: yes
Dark current increase distributions due to displacement damages are modeled using displacement damage dose concept. Several CMOS image sensors have been exposed to neutrons or protons and we have characterized their degradation in terms of dark current ...
