Parallel SVM model for forest fire prediction

open access: yesSoft Computing Letters, 2021
Forest fire is considered as one of the main cause of the environmental hazard that provides many negative effects. Effective Forest Fire prediction models help to take the necessary steps to prevent forest fire and its negative effects. Existing methods

Consequences of the CMR effect on EELS in TEM

open access: yes, 2017
Double perovskite oxides have gained in importance and exhibit negative magnetoresistance, which is known as colossal magnetoresistance (CMR) effect. Using a La$_2$CoMnO$_6$ (LCM) thin film we prove that the physical consequences of the CMR effect do ...

Comparison of T1 mapping techniques for ECV quantification. histological validation and reproducibility of ShMOLLI versus multibreath-hold T1 quantification equilibrium contrast CMR [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
BACKGROUND: Myocardial extracellular volume (ECV) is elevated in fibrosis or infiltration and can be quantified by measuring the haematocrit with pre and post contrast T1 at sufficient contrast equilibrium.

CMR in inflammatory vasculitis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance, 2012
Vasculitis, the inflammation of blood vessels, can produce devastating complications such as blindness, renal failure, aortic rupture and heart failure through a variety of end-organ effects. Noninvasive imaging with cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) has contributed to improved and earlier diagnosis.

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Artificial Intelligence in Systemic Sclerosis: Clinical Applications, Challenges, and Future Directions

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare autoimmune disease defined by immune dysregulation, vasculopathy, and progressive fibrosis of the skin and internal organs. Despite advances in care, major complications such as interstitial lung disease (ILD) and myocardial involvement remain the leading causes of morbidity and mortality.

Small terrestrial mammals living along streams acting as natural landscape barriers

open access: yesEkológia (Bratislava), 2016
Riparian stands along streams are important landscape elements – biocorridors, allowing the dispersal of many small terrestrial mammals. Streams are, however, also barriers limiting dispersal, which leads to isolation and population-genetic changes ...

The multi-modality cardiac imaging approach to the Athlete's heart: an expert consensus of the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The term 'athlete's heart' refers to a clinical picture characterized by a slow heart rate and enlargement of the heart. A multi-modality imaging approach to the athlete's heart aims to differentiate physiological changes due to intensive training in the

Rheumatoid Arthritis and Coronary Artery Calcium Progression: A Case Cohort Analysis from ELSA‐Brasil

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective To investigate the association between rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and coronary artery calcium (CAC) prevalence, incidence, and progression over four years in adults without prior cardiovascular disease. Methods A case‐cohort study within ELSA‐Brasil included 585 participants (86 RA, 499 controls). Longitudinal analyses were restricted to those
