Screen gate‐based transistors are presented, enabling tunable analog sigmoid and Gaussian activations. The SA‐transistor improves MRI classification accuracy, while the GA‐transistor supports precise Gaussian kernel tuning for forecasting. Both functions are implemented in a single device, offering compact, energy‐efficient analog AI processing ...

A 2D CMUT Array for Liver Elastography
Proper diagnosis of liver disease at an early stage is very crucial for its effective treatment. Chronic liver disease if not treated can often lead to cirrhosis. At present, liver biopsy is the main diagnostic procedure.

Forward-looking IVUS imaging using an annular-ring CMUT array
A 64-element, 1.15mm diameter annular-ring CMUT array was characterized and used for forward-looking IVUS imaging tests. The array was manufactured using low temperature processes suitable for CMOS electronics integration on a single chip.

MEMS: The Sensory Nervous System for Embodied AI Robots
Embodied AI represents a shift of intelligence from virtual to physical realms, calling for efficient and multimodal perceptual capabilities. This review illustrates how Micro‐Electro‐Mechanical Systems (MEMS) offer miniaturized, low‐power sensors such as those for ranging, inertia, touch, sound and smell, which serve as robotic “sensory organs”.

Ultrasound fundamentals and their clinical implications for interventional cytopathologists
Interventional cytopathologists need to know about ultrasound physics and instrumentation to produce an image that faithfully recreates the lesion discovered by the sonographer and diagnosed by the radiologist. A deep quantitative understanding of physics is not required.

Volumetric real-time imaging using a CMUT ring array [PDF]
A ring array provides a very suitable geometry for forward-looking volumetric intracardiac and intravascular ultrasound imaging. We fabricated an annular 64-element capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducer (CMUT) array featuring a 10-MHz operating frequency and a 1.27-mm outer radius.
