Thermovision analysis of a CNC milling machine

open access: yesDesign of Machines and Structures, 2019
This article concerns a thermovision analysis of a DMU40 5-axis CNC milling machine [1] using a thermal camera. First I specify the measuring instrument and I present the layout of the measurement. Before this measurement I created a thermal model of machine tool and I analysed it by finite element method. After evaluating simulation results I make the

Hydrogel Confinement Strategies for 3D Cell Culture in Microfluidic Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Hydrogel confinement structures are key to organizing 3D cell cultures in microfluidic devices. This review classifies five structural strategies (micropillar, phaseguide, porous membrane, stepped‐height, and support‐free) and examines their trade‐offs alongside fabrication methods.

Tunable Applicator for Microneedle‐Based Medical Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This paper presents a simple, low‐cost tunable applicator (TAPP) for microneedle array patches that uses a material‐agnostic controlled‐fracture mechanism to ensure reliable skin penetration and uniform array engagement. The scalable, modular design is compatible with injection molding and 3D printing, can be integrated directly into patches, and is ...

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.
