Variation in Stabilization and Resuscitation Practices at Birth of Preterm Infants Among 12 National or Regional Neonatal Networks

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim Neonatal resuscitation follows national or regional guidelines, but uptake varies in clinical practice. This study aimed to examine variations in reported delivery room practices for infants < 29 weeks' gestation across neonatal units in 12 networks of the International Network for Evaluating Outcomes in Neonates.

PREDICTION OF PERFORMANCE AND EMISSION OF COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS (CNG) IN A SUPERCHARGED DIRECT INJECTION SPARK IGNITION ENGINE USING ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORK

open access: yesPlatform, a Journal of Engineering, 2021
Emissions of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide and some hydrocarbons have been the main causes of global warming and have posed severe impacts on climate changes. Consequently, the focus on sustainable developments has swiftly grown

Growth and Variation in Fallow Deer (Dama dama L.) From Two Contrasting Habitats in Southern Britain

open access: yesActa Zoologica, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We have compiled a unique data set on the age, sex, body weight and dimensions of over 500 European fallow deer from two contrasting areas of habitat in southern England: a high‐density managed parkland population and a lower‐density feral woodland one.

Non‐canonical PKG1 regulation in cardiovascular health and disease

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
It is well established that the cyclic GMP‐dependent protein kinase I (PKG1) is canonically activated by cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), enabling its regulation of vascular tone, cardiac function and smooth muscle homeostasis. However, diverse non‐canonical stimuli of PKG1 have also been identified.

Dual IRE1 targets: Determinants of the cell fate?

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
IRE1 is an ER stress sensor that restores protein homeostasis through two signaling activities: XBP1s, which upregulates its target gene expression or RIDD which downregulates its target transcripts. We recently identified Dual IRE1 Targets (DIT) which are modulated by both XBP1s and RIDD activities.

Ecologically preferred types of drive systems for city buses—the context of the Polish energy mix

open access: yesEnvironmental Protection and Natural Resources, 2023
The energy mix determines the external costs of transport and the benefits from investments in the drive systems perceived as more environmentally friendly, such as electric vehicles.

Drafting the calmodulation playbook: Emerging structural insights into transient receptor potential channel regulation by calmodulin

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Calmodulin (CaM) is a ubiquitous calcium (Ca2+) sensor that translates intracellular Ca2+ signals into modulation of hundreds of effector proteins including ion channels. CaM is increasingly recognized as a key regulator of the transient receptor potential (TRP) channel family, yet the underlying ‘calmodulation playbook’ is only ...

Modeling the Feasibility of Fueling CNG Heavy-Duty Trucks in Toronto, Canada

open access: yesFindings
Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is cleaner than diesel for powering heavy duty trucks. A framework for establishing mobile on-site CNG refueling at truck yards is proposed and evaluated for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA), Canada. The locations

Performance Characteristics Comparison of CNG Port and CNG Direct Injection in Spark Ignition Engine [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Sustainable Development Research, 2018
A comparative performance analysis is being carried out on a four cylinder, four stroke cycle, spark ignition engine having displacement volume 1297cc. The cylinder head of original gasoline based engine was modified by drilling holes from upper surfaces of head to individual combustion chamber to convert the engine in a CNG direct injection engine ...
