Envenomation syndromes induced by Atlantic cnidaria have been tabulated and their therapy discussed. The pharmacokinetics of the venom has been emphasized. Pain occurs instantly and reaches a zenith rapidly in the surf. The nematocysts have already penetrated the dermis and disease proceeds before help can arrive.

Pigment Effector Cells in a Cnidarian

Chromatophore complexes are described in the siphonophore Nanomia cara . The dispersion and concentration of pigment are related to variation in light intensity and do not appear to be endogenously influenced. The pigment, possibly an ommochrome, has an absorption maximum at 465 to 470 mμ.
