Electronic transport in metallic carbon nanotubes with mixed defects within the strong localization regime

open access: yes, 2017
We study the electron transport in metallic carbon nanotubes (CNTs) with realistic defects of different types. We focus on large CNTs with many defects in the mesoscopic range.

Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) from Synthesis to Functionalized (CNTs) Using Conventional and New Chemical Approaches

open access: yesJournal of nanomaterials, 2021
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have emerged worldwide because of their remarkable properties enlarging their field of applications. Functionalization of CNTs is a convenient strategy to tackle low dispersion and solubilization of CNTs in many solvents or ...

Hygrothermal environment effect on the critical buckling load of FGP microbeams with initial curvature integrated by CNT-reinforced skins considering the influence of thickness stretching

open access: yesNanotechnology Reviews, 2021
Due to the need for structures with refined properties to bear against different loading conditions, recently, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been used widely to reinforce them. The extremely high stiffness of CNTs makes them significant as one of the best

Carbon Nanotube Thermal Transport: Ballistic to Diffusive

open access: yes, 2005
We propose to use l_0/(l_0+L) for the energy transmission covering both ballistic and diffusive regimes, where l_0 is mean free path and L is system length. This formula is applied to heat conduction in carbon nanotubes (CNTs).

Effect of carbon nanotube (CNT) functionalization in epoxy-CNT composites [PDF]

open access: yesNanotechnology Reviews, 2018
Abstract The effect of carbon nanotube (CNT) functionalization in altering the properties of epoxy-CNT composites is presented. The presence of functional groups effectively influenced the colloidal behavior of CNTs in the precursor epoxy resin and the hardener triethylenetetramine (TETA), which affected the synthesis process and ...

Spatiotemporal visualization of subcellular dynamics of carbon nanotubes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
To date, there is no consensus on the relationship between the physicochemical characteristics of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and their biological behavior; however, there is growing evidence that the versatile characteristics make their biological fate ...

Effect of Laser Deoxidation on Adhesive‐Bonded Aluminum in an Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser ablation of aluminum under oxygen‐free conditions. The goal is to produce oxide‐free substrates that enable improved adhesive bonding with epoxy. Optimized laser parameters (90% overlap, 300 µJ) combined with oxide‐free substrates result in the highest tensile strength of the adhesive bond.
