Transcriptomics Unveil Dsx1 as a Critical Regulator in Sexual Dimorphism of Crustaceans

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
Sexually dimorphic traits are involved in reproductive competition and are shaped by sex‐biased gene expression. This study identifies Dsx1 as a key male‐biased gene in Morinoia aosen and demonstrates through RNA interference that its disruption feminizes male‐specific T3 leg structures.

SnO2 nanostructure-based acetone sensors for breath analysis

open access: yesMicro and Nano Systems Letters
The World Health Organization reports that metabolic disorders are responsible for a significant proportion of global mortality. Considering this, breath sensors have gained prominence as effective tools for monitoring and diagnosing metabolic disorders,

Relationships between chick vocalizations and parental absence in Kentish Plovers

open access: yesIbis, EarlyView.
Chick calls within bird species vary greatly, often in relation to whether parents are present. We studied chick calls in a nidifugous shorebird, the Kentish Plover Anarhynchus alexandrinus, in three circumstances—(1) on the nest with parental presence; (2) on the nest with parental absence; and (3) out‐of‐nest with human observer presence—and ...

Sediment transport and depositional hydrodynamics on the eastern Korean continental margin revealed by surface sediment granulometry

open access: yesSedimentology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Terrigenous sediments are transported from coastal areas and shelves to deeper continental margins by multiple processes. Understanding these processes is critical for evaluating the ecological impacts of fine‐grained sediment deposition and predicting future changes in sediment dispersal under rapid climate change.

Exact bound state solutions of the radial Schrödinger equation for the Coulomb potential by conformable Nikiforov–Uvarov approach

open access: yesOpen Physics
In this work, we investigate the use of the conformable Nikiforov–Uvarov (CNU) method to solve the radial Schrödinger equation exactly for the Coulomb potential.

Strict and non strict positivity of direct image bundles

open access: yes, 2010
This paper is a sequel to \cite{Berndtsson}. In that paper we studied the vector bundle associated to the direct image of the relative canonical bundle of a smooth K\"ahler morphism, twisted with a semipositive line bundle.

3D printed patient‐specific drill guide for percutaneous pedicle screw fixation in lumbosacral vertebrae in dogs: A cadaveric study and clinical case report

open access: yesVeterinary Surgery, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective To evaluate the feasibility, accuracy, and safety of percutaneous pedicle screw fixation (PPSF) in the canine lumbosacral junction using three‐dimensional (3D)‐printed patient‐specific drill guides (PSGs). Study design Cadaveric study and clinical case report.

The CnuK9E H-NS complex antagonizes DNA binding of DicA and leads to temperature-dependent filamentous growth in E. coli. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Cnu (an OriC-binding nucleoid protein) associates with H-NS. A variant of Cnu was identified as a key factor for filamentous growth of a wild-type Escherichia coli strain at 37°C.

Fronthaul Quantization as Artificial Noise for Enhanced Secret Communication in C-RAN

open access: yes, 2017
This work considers the downlink of a cloud radio access network (C-RAN), in which a control unit (CU) encodes confidential messages, each of which is intended for a user equipment (UE) and is to be kept secret from all the other UEs.
