Quantitative analysis of the dripping and jetting regimes in co-flowing capillary jets [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics of Fluids, 2011
We study a liquid jet that breaks up into drops in an external co-flowing liquid inside a confining microfluidic geometry. The jet breakup can occur right after the nozzle in a phenomenon named dripping or through the generation of a liquid jet that breaks up a long distance from the nozzle, which is called jetting.

Study on the Impact Pressure of Swirling-Round Supercritical CO2 Jet Flow and Its Influencing Factors

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
Supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) jet is capable of decreasing the threshold pressure of rock breakage and mitigating formation damage, owing to its low viscosity, high diffusivity, and extremely-low surface tension.

Viscoelastic effects on the jetting–dripping transition in co-flowing capillary jets [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Mechanics, 2008
Linear hydrodynamics stability analysis is used to determine the influence of elasticity on the jetting–dripping transition and on the temporal stability of non-axisymmetric modes in co-flowing capillary jets. The critical Weber number for which axisymmetric perturbations undergo a transition from convective to absolute instability is calculated from ...

Exploration of Fluidic Thrust Vectoring Control on a Dynamic Test Rig: Computational and Experimental Analysis

open access: yesEngineering Proceedings, 2023
Fluidic thrust vectoring (FTV) control is a cutting-edge method used to manipulate the motion of an unmanned air vehicle when traditional control surfaces like elevators are not available. The primary purpose of employing FTV is to make the aircraft less

The Flow Characteristics of Supercritical Carbon Dioxide (SC-CO2) Jet Fracturing in Limited Perforation Scenarios

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
Supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) jet fracturing is a promising alternative for shale gas fracturing instead of water. However, most studies pay more attention to the fracture generation and ignore the flow characteristic of SC-CO2 jet fracturing in ...

The formation number of vortex rings formed in uniform background co-flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The formation of vortex rings generated by an impulsively started jet in the presence of uniform background co-flow is studied experimentally to extend previous results.

Numerical study on mean flow characteristics for a combined turbulent wall and offset jets with a parallel co-flow

open access: yesJournal of Taibah University for Science, 2022
Combined turbulent wall and offset jets with and without the presence of a parallel co-flow stream are investigated using the k-ω turbulence model. We focus on the effects of co-flow velocity on the locations of various characteristic points formed owing

Vortex ring pinchoff in the presence of simultaneously initiated uniform background co-flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Vortex rings were formed with a piston-cylinder mechanism in the presence of uniform background co-flow supplied through a shroud surrounding the cylinder. The jet and co-flow were started simultaneously. Ratios of the co-flow to jet velocity (Rv) in the

An experimental investigation of meniscus roll coating [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
A two-roll apparatus is used to explore experimentally the detailed fluid mechanics of meniscus roll coating in which inlets are starved and flow rates are small.

Improvement of Laminar Lifted Flame Stability Excited by High-Frequency Acoustic Oscillation

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology, 2009
A high-frequency (20kHz) standing wave was applied to the unburned mixture upstream of a methane-air lifted jet flame using a bolt-clamped Langevin transducer (BLT) to improve stability.
