Suspended particulates mediate bacterial community coalescence in different habitats of a large sediment-laden river

open access: yesEcological Indicators, 2022
Many studies have reported the influence of dispersal processes on aquatic bacterial communities, but the role of community coalescence is still unknown in sediment-laden rivers.

The diversity and co-occurrence patterns of diazotrophs in the steppes of Inner Mongolia

open access: yes, 2017
Soil diazotrophs possess the function of fixing atmospheric NZ into biologically available ammonium in terrestrial ecosystems. However, there are limited studies into how diazotrophic communities change when grassland environments differ.

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Research on the Development and Application of the GDELT Event Database

open access: yesData
This study investigates the development and application of the GDELT (Global Database of Events, Language, and Tone) news database. Through experiments, we conducted a quantitative statistical analysis of the GDELT event database to evaluate its ...

Multiple assembly rules drive the co-occurrence of orthopteran and plant species in grasslands: combining network, functional and phylogenetic approaches

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2016
Understanding the factors underlying the co-occurrence of multiple species remains a challenge in ecology. Biotic interactions, environmental filtering and neutral processes are among the main mechanisms evoked to explain species co-occurrence.

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Created in BioRender. Wikman, H.

Patterns of variation in equine strongyle community structure across age groups and gut compartments

open access: yesParasites & Vectors, 2023
Background Equine strongyles encompass more than 64 species of nematode worms that are responsible for growth retardation and the death of animals. The factors underpinning variation in the structure of the equine strongyle community remain unknown ...

Tumor B‐cell infiltration in platinum‐treated advanced muscle‐invasive urothelial carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Bladder tumors with higher pretreatment memory B‐cell infiltration were linked to longer survival after cisplatin chemotherapy, but not carboplatin. These tumors also showed more organized immune structures (tertiary lymphoid structures) and a shared pro‐inflammatory B‐cell‐rich community, suggesting that memory B cells may help identify patients most ...
