A scientometric analysis of 2449 journal articles and a comprehensive review of 336 papers were conducted, discussing and identifying challenges and research gaps in rockburst prediction and prevention and proposing an ontology‐based framework for better decision‐making in underground excavations. Abstract With underground engineering projects becoming

Modeling the shortening history of a fault tip fold using structural and geomorphic records of deformation [PDF]
We present a methodology to derive the growth history of a fault tip fold above a basal detachment. Our approach is based on modeling the stratigraphic and geomorphic records of deformation, as well as the finite structure of the fold constrained from ...

This study highlights that with the static and time‐dependent evolution of slip versus dilation tendency parameter space, structurally controlled deep geothermal systems can be selected within areas of higher permeability and lower seismic hazard. Abstract Faults play a vital role in the Earth's hydraulic system by facilitating fluid flow when dilating

Co-Registration of Optically Sensed Images and Correlation (COSI-Corr): an Operational Methodology for Ground Deformation Measurements [PDF]
Recent methodological progress, Co-Registration of Optically Sensed Images and Correlation, outlined here, makes it possible to measure horizontal ground deformation from optical images on an operational basis, using the COSI-Corr software package ...

Co-seismic deformation of 2011 Mw9. 0 Japan earthquake observed by InSAR technique
Abstract:Co-seismic line-of-sight displacements of the 2011 Mw9. 0 Japan earthquake derived from InSAR data of Envisat ASAR, ALOS PALSAR and TerraSAR-X show a maximum value of about –245 cm to –221cm near the epicenter. This result is in good agreement with the result of GPS measurement.

Geodetic, teleseismic, and strong motion constraints on slip from recent southern Peru subduction zone earthquakes [PDF]
We use seismic and geodetic data both jointly and separately to constrain coseismic slip from the 12 November 1996 M_w 7.7 and 23 June 2001 M_w 8.5 southern Peru subduction zone earthquakes, as well as two large aftershocks following the 2001 earthquake ...

Co-seismic deformation derived from GPS observations during April 20th, 2013 Lushan Earthquake, Sichuan, China [PDF]
We process the standard 30 s, static GPS data and the 1 s, high-rate GPS (HRGPS) data provided by the Crustal Movement Observation Network of China with GAMIT/GLOBK software package, and obtain the co-seismic displacements of near field and far field, and the epoch-by-epoch time series of HRGPS during Lushan earthquake.

Exploring wave propagation behaviors in rock: A grain‐based perspective on mineral structures
This study investigates wave propagation in rock at the grain scale using a grain‐based model, revealing that mineral elastic modulus significantly influences wave attenuation while grain size and distribution have limited effects. A novel peak particle velocity attenuation prediction model is proposed and validated for grain‐scale wave propagation ...
