Thermochemistry of a Biomimetic and Rubisco-Inspired CO2 Capture System from Air

open access: yesC, 2016
In theoretical studies of chemical reactions the reaction thermochemistry is usually reported for the stoichiometric reaction at standard conditions (ΔG°, ΔH°, ΔS°). We describe the computation of the equilibrium concentrations of the CO2-adducts for the

Evaluation of Stirling cooler system for cryogenic CO2 capture [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In previous research, a cryogenic system based on Stirling coolers has been developed. In this work, the novel system was applied on CO2 capture from post-combustion flue gas and different process parameters (i.e.

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Aerosol emissions and mitigation of aqueous AMP/PZ solvent for postcombustion CO2 capture

open access: yesCarbon Capture Science & Technology
Aerosol emissions from the CO2-capture process have a significant impact on both solvent depletion and environmental contamination. This work comprehensively investigated the emissions of AMP (2-amino-2-methyl-1propanol)/PZ (piperazine) from a bench ...

Recent advances in carbon dioxide capture for process intensification

open access: yesCarbon Capture Science & Technology, 2022
Rising carbon dioxide (CO2) levels in the atmosphere from anthropogenic sources have led to the development of carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) technologies. In order to decarbonise chemical synthesis, a process intensification approach can

CO2 Capture via Nanofluids

open access: yes, 2019
Carbon dioxide (CO2), as one of the major greenhouse gas emissions, has attracted much attention in the world. Magnetite Fe3O4 nanoparticles have a tendency to aggregate in solution to reduce their surface energy due to their large surface area to volume ratio.

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

CO2 capture from natural gas combined cycles by CO2 selective membranes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This paper performs a techno-economic analysis of natural gas-fired combined cycle (NGCC) power plants integrated with CO2 selective membranes for post-combustion CO2 capture.

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...

Experimental validation and multi-criteria decision optimization of parameters in gas hydrate-based desalination

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Chemical Engineering
Gas hydrate-based desalination (GHBD) is a promising technology for sustainable water treatment, yet its practical implementation is often hindered by the slow kinetics and complexity of optimizing multiple process parameters.
