Hydrogenation of CO2 for methanol production
2012Converting CO2 to valuable products becomes increasingly interesting as CO2 emissions are restricted and penalties have to be paid. Different processes are evaluated and a systematic design is made for the most promising concepts. The goal is to produce 10 kton/yr methanol from a typical flue gas stream containing 12 mole % CO2.

CO2 hydrogenation to methane is an attractive method to convert CO2 from the atmosphere or from industry to fuel or building block for other chemicals. Open questions in the field of CO2 hydrogenation to methane which this thesis aims to adress include the structure sensitivity of the reaction and the active reaction mechanism.
