Interpretation of stem CO2 efflux measurements [PDF]

open access: yesTree Physiology, 2009
It is known that stem CO2 efflux differs somewhat both temporally and spatially from actual stem respiration, but relations between these two are not fully understood. A physical model of CO2 diffusion and advection by xylem sap flow is developed to interpret the CO2 flux signal from the stem.

Vigor determination of okra seeds by respiratory activity

open access: yesBioscience Journal, 2018
Seed companies increasingly need to obtain reliable results on seed vigor. Therefore, the objective was to verify the efficiency of the respiratory activity measurement, by the CO2 released, to classify the vigor of okra seed lots.

Based on Atmospheric Physics and Ecological Principle to Assess the Accuracies of Field CO2/H2O Measurements From Infrared Gas Analyzers in Closed‐Path Eddy‐Covariance Systems

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, 2021
Field CO2/H2O measurements from infrared gas analyzers in closed‐path eddy‐covariance systems have wide applications in earth sciences. Knowledge about exactness of these measurements is required to assess measurement applicability.

The influence of nocturnal CO2 advection on CO2 flux measurements [PDF]

open access: yesBasic and Applied Ecology, 2000
Abstract Eddy covariance (EC) measurements of CO2 are widely used to assess the CO2 budget of ecosystems. However, important uncertainties exist about how to obtain flux values that are representative for the regional scale from local-scale EC measurements.

A rapid transition from ice covered CO2–rich waters to a biologically mediated CO2 sink in the eastern Weddell Gyre [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Circumpolar Deep Water (CDW), locally called Warm Deep Water (WDW), enters the Weddell Gyre in the southeast, roughly at 25° E to 30° E. In December 2002 and January 2003 we studied the effect of entrainment of WDW on the fugacity of carbon dioxide (fCO2)

Effect of near-surface winds on the measurement of forest soil CO2 fluxes using closed air chambers

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and Evolution, 2023
Forest soil CO2 flux measurements are important for studying global climate change. Current monitoring methods are based on closed gas chambers, which block the wind pumping effect of near-surface winds in the measurements, resulting in biased values ...
