Hybrid CO2 capture processes consisting of membranes: A technical and techno-economic review

open access: yesAdvanced Membranes, 2023
Because of the greenhouse effect, there is a pressing need to restrict and reduce CO2 emissions. Post-combustion capture technology is a type of widely used technologies for CO2 capture. Compared to the standalone CO2 capture processes such as absorption

Design of amine-functionalized metal-organic frameworks for CO2 separation: the more amine, the better? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A total of 41,825 metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) were computationally screened toward the design of amine-functionalized MOFs for CO2 separation. Both the optimal species and number of amine functional groups were examined for eight MOFs with good ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

The mOxy-CaL Process: Integration of Membrane Separation, Partial Oxy-combustion and Calcium Looping for CO2 Capture [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
CO2 capture and storage (CCS) is considered as a key strategy in the short to medium term to mitigate global warming. The Calcium-Looping process, based on the reversible carbonation/calcination of CaO particles, is a promising technology for post ...

Cooperative gas adsorption without a phase transition in metal-organic frameworks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Cooperative adsorption of gases by porous frameworks permits more efficient uptake and removal than does the more usual non-cooperative (Langmuir-type) adsorption.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Improving CO2 separation performances of Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene Triblock Copolymer Membranes by tunning its Microstructure via varying solvents and/or non-solvents

open access: yesCarbon Capture Science & Technology
Microstructure in block copolymers has a critical impact on CO2 separation performances. In this work, styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) triblock copolymer membranes were made using various solvent/non-solvent combinations.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

The interfacial compatibility between a potential CO2 separation membrane and capture solvents

open access: yesCarbon Capture Science & Technology, 2022
Water-lean solvents are considered as a promising solution for carbon dioxide (CO2) capture. Candidate CO2 capture molecules include N-(2-ethoxyethyl)-3-morpholinopropan-1-amine (2-EEMPA), 3-methoxy-N-(pyridine-2-ylemthyl)propan-1-amine (MPMPA), and 1 ...
