Methane/CO2 Sorption Modeling for Coalbed Methane Production and CO2 Sequestration

Energy & Fuels, 2006
A thorough study of the sorption behavior of coals to methane and carbon dioxide (CO2) is critical for carbon sequestration in coal seams and enhanced coalbed methane recovery. This paper discusses the results of an ad/de-sorption study of methane and CO2, in single gas environment, on a set of coal samples taken from the San Juan and Illinois Basins ...

Methanation of CO2 on bulk Co–Fe catalysts

International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, 2021
Abstract The efficiency of CO2 methanation was estimated through gas chromatography in the presence of Co–Fe catalysts. Scanning electron microscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and Mossbauer spectroscopy were applied for ex-situ analysis of the catalysts after their test in the methanation reaction. Thermal programmed

CO-Free Hydrogen Production by Membrane Reactor Equipped with CO Methanator

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2008
A novel membrane reactor system equipped with a CO methanator was proposed for the efficient production of CO-free hydrogen by a simple and compact reactor unit without any additional purification of hydrogen. It is expected that a trace amount of CO in the permeate can be removed through the methanation at the sacrifice of a minimum amount of hydrogen.

Co₂-Enhanced Methane Production by Integration of Bamboo Biochar During Anaerobic Co-Digestion

Journal of Environmental Management
This study investigates the enhancement of methane production in anaerobic co-digestion (AcoD) through the introduction of exogenous CO₂ and the application of bamboo biochar. Exogenous CO₂ boosts biogas yield by providing an additional carbon source, which requires optimized solubility and pH buffering to ensure effective methanation.

Using Biochemical Methane Potential Assays to Aid in Co-substrate Selection for Co-digestion

Applied Engineering in Agriculture, 2011
There has been an increasing interest in manure anaerobic digestion ; however, economic constraints are still one of the limits to widespread use of the technology in the United States. Co-digestion of manure with other feedstocks has been noted as a way to increase the economic feasibility of animal feeding operation anaerobic digesters via increased ...

Methanation of CO on some Ni catalysts

Journal of Catalysis, 1969
The kinetics of methanating CO on a number of nickel catalysts was investigated in the range up to 10% or 20% CO in H2 in a once-through differential reactor where the catalyst particles of size 0.3–0.5 mm were fluidized. The order with respect to CO was less than zero and approached −0.5 at higher CO concentrations.

Selective CO methanation catalysts for fuel processing applications

Applied Catalysis A: General, 2007
Abstract Selective CO methanation as a strategy for CO removal in fuel processing applications was investigated over Ru-based catalysts. Ru metal loading and crystallite size were shown to affect catalyst activity and selectivity. Even operating at a gas-hourly-space-velocity as high as 13,500 h −1 , a 3% Ru/Al 2 O 3 catalyst with a 34.2 nm ...
