Optimum storage conditions for osteochondral allograft plugs: An ex vivo comparative study of 12 storage protocols

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Orthopaedics, Volume 12, Issue 2, April 2025.
Abstract Objective Physiological storage temperature and chondrogenic supplements can enhance tissue viability, potentially overcoming the limitations associated with osteochondral allograft transplantation. This study aimed to evaluate the quality of macroscopically healthy cartilage across 12 different storage protocols to find optimum storage ...

Transcriptome profiling of Staphylococci-infected cow mammary gland parenchyma

open access: yesBMC Veterinary Research, 2017
Background Genome-wide gene expression profiling allows for identification of genes involved in the defense response of the host against pathogens. As presented here, transcriptomic analysis and bioinformatics tools were applied in order to identify ...

Long‐term outcome of periprosthetic joint infection following unicompartmental knee arthroplasty: A single‐centre case series

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Orthopaedics, Volume 12, Issue 2, April 2025.
Abstract Purpose Periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) following unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) is a rare but serious complication. The data available on this topic are heterogeneous and limited, particularly in regard to long‐term survival and patient‐reported outcomes (PROs).

Unique Patterns of Circulating Extracellular Vesicles in Preterm Infants During Adaptation to Extra‐Uterine Life

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2025.
ABSTRACT There is growing interest in the role of extracellular vesicles (EVs) in neonatal pathology. This study aimed to characterise circulating EVs following preterm birth. This single‐centre prospective observational study included cord and postnatal plasma from preterm (n = 101) and full‐term infants (n = 66).

Cut‐off value of somatic cell count and validation of differential somatic cell count by the fluoro‐optical method in subclinical mastitis milk in three sheep breeds

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dairy Technology, Volume 78, Issue 2, April–June 2025.
For the first time, the DSCC fluor optic method was validated for sheep milk. Optimal cut‐off values of SCC and DSCC were calculated for three dairy sheep breeds. Somatic cell count (SCC) is a test used for mastitis control in ewes, but there is no consensus on the cut‐off value.
