Instantaneous Capture and Mineralization of Flue Gas Carbon Dioxide: Pilot Scale Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Multiple CO2 capture and storage (CCS) processes are required to address anthropogenic CO2 problems. However, a method which can directly capture and mineralize CO2 at a point source, under actual field conditions, has advantages and could help offset ...

The Application of Hydrochar Composite Briquettes for Sustainable Slag Foaming in the Electric Arc Furnace Process

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Hydrochar‐mill‐scale briquettes with varying C/O molar ratios (0.07–0.90) have been tested at 1650 °C to evaluate their slag foaming performance for electric arc furnace application. All seven briquette recipes developed succeed in promoting slag foaming.

Performance of bricks and brick masonry prism made using coal fly ash and coal bottom ash

open access: yesAdvances in concrete construction, 2016
The major problem of a coal combustion-based power plant is that it creates large quantity of solid wastes. So, to achieve the gainful use of waste materials and to avoid other environmental problems, this study was undertaken. The quantity of coal ash by-products, particularly coal fly ash and coal bottom ash has been increasing from the coal power ...

Variation on Toxic and Inflammatory Potential of Coal Smoke of Different Sources From a Region With High Lung Cancer Risk

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Excess lung cancer risk in Xuanwei and Fuyuan, China, has been attributed to household air pollution from use of a locally sourced smoky (bituminous) coal. However, the carcinogenic mechanisms remain unclear. Given the important role of inflammation in lung cancer development, this study compared the proinflammatory potentials of the ...

What can lithics tell us about food production during the transition to farming? Exploring harvesting practices and cultural changes during the neolithic in Southwest Asia: a view from Qminas (north‐western Syria)

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
Abstract This study examines the continuity and change in harvesting practices between the Late Pre‐Pottery Neolithic B (LPPNB) and the Early Pottery Neolithic at Qminas, north‐western Levant, through a traceological analysis of flint sickles. By combining qualitative traceological analysis with quantitative functional approaches, we demonstrate that ...
