Generation Mechanism of Coal Pillar Rock Burst

open access: yesApplied Mechanics and Materials, 2011
Aiming at the problem of the isolated coal pillar occurring the rock burst easily and having no the occurrence and damage theory of the rock burst according with actual, it discusses the generation mechanism of tension rock burst of the isolated coal pillar, uses finite element software of the tension fracture to simulate the fracture and evolution ...

Coal mass rating with regards to outburst and coal burst

open access: yes
Outbursts and coal bursts pose significant risks to underground coal mine workers. The burst propensity of a coal seam is represented by the three factors of the burst triangle: coal, energy, and isotropic mass. The most critical factor was determined to be isotropic mass controlling the storage potential and release rate of burst energy.

Analysis of coal burst phenomenon in underground coal mines

open access: yesRock Mechanics and Rock Engineering: From the Past to the Future, 2016
© 2016 Taylor & Francis Group, London.Coal burst is referred to as the violent failure of the overstressed coal, which has been recognised as one to the most critical dynamic failures in coal mines. This paper aims to examine the interaction between coal

Investigation of Coal Burst Potential Using Numerical Modeling and Rock Burst Indices

open access: yes, 2021
Coal bursts are typically defined as a rapid failure of coal or surrounding rock producing a violent release of energy and ejection of rock particles. This phenomenon is extremely complex and dynamic, and this has made it very difficult to predict. In the last decades, different researchers have aimed to understand the sources and mechanisms of failure

Models of translatory rock bursting in coal

International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences & Geomechanics Abstracts, 1981
Abstract A model material and a model technique have been found which show, in laboratory tests, the typical features of translatory rock bursts (bumps) in coal mines. The qualitative observations made using the model, agree with theoretical predictions published earlier.

Bursting liability indices of coal

International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences & Geomechanics Abstracts, 1981
Abstract Natural coal's ability to store and release rapidly elastic strain energy seems to be a fundamental condition for the occurrence of rock-bursts in deep underground coal mines. In Upper Silesia where a number of existing mines work below a critical depth, several indices have been proposed and their numerical values found by experiment in ...

Comprehensive evaluation of coal burst risk using optimized linear weighted model

The Physics of Fluids
The assessment of coal burst risk is a complex and systematic process; the variations among the indicator systems and the stability of the evaluation models used can influence the results. In this study, an index system for the analytic hierarchy process

Field Monitoring of Delayed Coal Burst in an Advancing Entry of a Deep Coal Mine

Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration, 2021
Delayed coal bursts in deep coal mines have caused significant fatalities and economic losses in recent years. Instead of occurring right around the advancing face, this particular type of coal burst is characterized by its occurrence at a certain distance behind the advancing face.
