Coal dust explosibility

Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industries, 1996
This paper reports US Bureau of Mines (USBM) research on the explosibility of coal dusts. The purpose of this work is to improve safety in mining and other industries that process or use coal. Most of the tests were conducted in the USBM 20 litre laboratory explosibility chamber.

Coal dust wettability estimation

Journal of Mining Science, 2014
The authors present a new method of estimating wettability of fine coal particles settled on water drops. Ratio of wetted particles is calculated by measured optical density of air and dust mixture. The offered method enables measurements to be taken immediately in the air and dust mixture, without mechanical treatment of coal dust particles, which ...

The ignitability of coal dust-air and methane-coal dust-air mixtures

Fuel, 1993
Abstract An experimental investigation of coal dust explosions was conducted in a 26 1 spherical chamber. Channel (mine-face) samples of coal from the Prince and Phalen mines of the Cape Breton Development Corporation were used. The objective of the work was to investigate the ignitability characteristics of the coals, alone and with admixed methane.

Synthesis of Coal Dust Depressor and its Application in Preventing Coal Dust

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
A novel coal dust depressor was prepared by alkalization and etherficayion reactions using wastepaper as raw material. The sample was characterized by means of FTIR spectroscopy (FTIR)、scanning electron microscopy (SEM)、X-ray diffraction (XRF) and viscometer measurements.

Coal Dust Explosions

1985
A brief information about the mechanism of coal dust explosions is given. Some of the important factors affecting the explosibility of the dust are discussed and some reliable criteria which can be helpful in coping with the explosive dust are explained. Also the main aspects of the preventive measures against the coal dust explosions are introduced.
