Effect of Coal Dust Exposure on the SOD Activity and the Oxidative DNA Damage in Asthmatic Mice

open access: yesIndonesian Biomedical Journal, 2019
BACKGROUND: Coal dust is known to trigger hypersensitivity and inflammation of the respiratory tract as it increases oxidative stress leading to asthma. To date, the relationship of coal dust exposure in the pathomechanism of asthma remains unclear. This

Linking Process‐Induced Degradation to Mechanical Property Deterioration in Flax Fiber–Reinforced Bio‐Polymer Matrix Composites

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Effect of processing‐induced thermal degradation on the mechanical performance of thermoplastic flax fiber composites. ABSTRACT The drawback of biobased polymer matrix composites (PMCs) is their limited temperature stability, resulting from degradation, which restricts their processability in established composite manufacturing processes requiring ...

Study on airflow-coal dust dispersion pattern and control technology in fully mechanized mining face

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua
The shearer in a fully mechanized mining face generates significant turbulent airflow during coal cutting, resulting in changes in airflow velocity in the mining area and causing the lateral dispersion of coal dust particles toward pavements.

Vog: Using Volcanic Eruptions to Estimate the Health Costs of Particulates

open access: yesThe Economic Journal, EarlyView., 2018
The negative consequences of long‐term exposure to particulate pollution are well established but a number of studies find no effect of short‐term exposure on health outcomes. The high correlation of industrial pollutants complicates the estimation of the impact of individual pollutants on health.

Process Window Optimization for Roll‐to‐Roll Slot‐Die Coating of High‐Resolution Dry Film Solder Resists for HDI PCB Applications

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
A hydrodynamic process window for roll‐to‐roll slot‐die coating of photosensitive solder resist (PSR) was established by systematically varying the slot‐die gap and pump flow rate. Under the optimized conditions, a highly uniform 26 μm dry‐film solder resist (DFSR) layer with a thickness variation of ±3.74% was obtained without coating defects.
