Recent progress in coastal acoustic tomography
Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2016Coastal acoustic tomography (CAT) which was proposed by Hiroshima University in 1990s as a shallow-sea application of ocean acoustic tomography (OAT) is developed as a mirror-type CAT (MCAT) for measuring deep strait throughflows in Indonesian archipelago seas in real time.

An approach to the coastal ocean acoustic tomography
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1996A reciprocal sound transmission system has been designed for long-term current measurements in the coastal sea with heavy ship traffic and fishing activities. The system was composed of two acoustic stations spaced a distance of 5.7 km on both sides of a channel in the Seto Inland Sea, Japan.

A coastal acoustic tomography experiment in the Qiongzhou Strait
2016 IEEE/OES China Ocean Acoustics (COA), 2016An experiment for synchronous mapping of current velocity (V CAT ) and temperature (T CAT ) distributions was successfully carried out using four coastal acoustic tomography (CAT) systems, from March 17 to April 1, 2013, in the Qiongzhou Strait, China.

Current structure measurements by the coastal acoustic tomography
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2006The coastal acoustic tomography (CAT), coastal-sea application of deep-sea acoustic tomography (Munk and Wunsch, 1978), is proposed as an advanced technology to map current structures in the coastal sea. A sequence of successful experiments was recently carried out in the coastal seas with various oceanographic conditions around Japan (Yamaguchi et al.,

The first Chinese coastal acoustic tomography experiment
OCEANS'10 IEEE SYDNEY, 2010The first Chinese coastal acoustic tomography (CAT) experiment was successfully carried out during July 12 to 13, 2009 with seven acoustic stations for mapping the tidal currents in the Zhitouyang Bay near the Zhoushan Island. The CAT results showed the strong eastward tidal current which entered into the tomography site from the Loutou Channel at the ...

Design and Field Experiment of the Coastal Acoustic Tomography
2009 2nd International Congress on Image and Signal Processing, 2009The Coastal Acoustic Tomography (CAT) system was developed to measure currents in the coastal water with heavy shipping traffic and fishing activities. The CAT system was designed for transmitting and receiving the sound signal at same time, and accurate measuring acoustic travel time between two separated stations by using the M-sequence sound signal ...

Simulations of acoustic tomography of ocean currents in a coastal region
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1995A new, full field approach to acoustic monitoring of currents in the ocean—matched nonreciprocity tomography (MNT)—was recently put forward [Godin etal., in FullFieldInversionMethodsinOceanandSeismo-Acoustics, edited by O. Diachok etal. (Kluwer, Dordrecht, 1995), pp. 261–266].

Observation of Internal Tides in the Qiongzhou Strait by Coastal Acoustic Tomography
Journal of Ocean University of China, 2021In this study, power spectral density and inverse analyses were performed to obtain the frequency characteristics and spatial distribution of temperature in the Qiongzhou Strait using reciprocal sound transmission data obtained in a coastal acoustic tomography experiment conducted in 2013.

A coastal acoustic tomography experiment in the Sanmen Bay, China
2010 3rd International Congress on Image and Signal Processing, 2010The coastal acoustic tomography (CAT) experiment was successfully carried out during September 6 to 9, 2009 in the Sanmen Bay near the Taizhou city, China. Seven sets of CAT systems were set up around the bay for mapping the tidal currents at 3-min interval.

Application of coastal acoustic tomography to Lake Biwa, Japan
Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2016We will provide an update on continuing development of coastal acoustic tomography (CAT) in Lake Biwa, Japan, which will provide monitoring data for assimilation into a prototype “nowcast system” for the flow and temperature fields in the lake. Employing 5 kHz transducers, we have achieved a number of successful CAT tests since August 2014 in the North
