Organic amendment increases arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal diversity in primary coastal dunes [PDF]
Plastic pots were inserted beneath seedlings of a shallow-rooted C4 grass species, Ischaemum indicum, with and without a root-impenetrable nylon sachet filled with organic matter (OM) amendment, at seven stations along an interrupted belt ...

ABSTRACT Vlaardingen (VL) communities on the Dutch West coast (3400–2200 bce) are part of a unique, long‐term continuity in the European Neolithic. Despite large‐scale changes in European populations during the Neolithic, the genomic diversity and cultural practices of VL communities can be retraced to the Mesolithic.

We summarize the current state of knowledge on the age of the Middle Pleistocene ice advances into northern central Europe and provide 25 new single‐grain feldspar luminescence ages of Elsterian and Saalian glacigenic sediments to constrain the age of the ice advances and their tentative correlation with marine isotope stages/substages.

Especially in areas with high human and non-human stakes, coastal dunes may act as natural forms of coastal protection against coastal flooding. This justifies the importance of assessing their ability at protecting the low-lying areas.

Luminescence dating of coastal deposits from the Chanthaburi Plain, Thailand
The ongoing global sea‐level rise urges us to better understand the dynamics of coastal processes for predicting future changes. Sedimentary deposits reflect past coastal environments but require precise chronological data to place evidence into a temporal context.

Aeolian transport of cohesive sand [PDF]
The influence of moisture on wind-driven sand transport is particularly important in coastal environements. While moisture is generally low in desert sands, it significantly affects sand transport on beaches or in coastal dune dynamics.

Aeolianite and barrier dune construction spanning the last two glacial-interglacial cycles from the southern Cape coast, South Africa [PDF]
The southern Cape region of South Africa has extensive coastal aeolianites and barrier dunes. Whilst previously reported, limited knowledge of their age has precluded an understanding of their relationship with the climatic and sea-level fluctuations ...

Mediterranean ecosystems face complex, multi‐trophic impacts from global‐change drivers, yet responses are often studied in isolation. Using the Doñana Protected Area as a case study, we illustrate how anthropogenic pressures on key species like cork oaks and rabbits, as well as increases in species like wild boar and invasive crayfish, lead to ...
