Scenarios for Coastal Vulnerability Assessment

2011
Coastal vulnerability assessments tend to focus mainly on climate change and especially on sea-level rise. Assessment of the influence of nonclimatic environmental change or socioeconomic change is less well developed and these drivers are often completely ignored.

Texas and Louisiana coastal vulnerability and shelf connectivity

Marine Pollution Bulletin, 2017
A numerical study of connectivity between the continental shelf and coast in the northwestern Gulf of Mexico using a circulation model and surface-limited numerical drifters shows that despite seasonal changes in winds, the overall connectivity of the shelf with the coastline is similar in the winter and summer, though it extends more offshore in Texas

Resilience and Vulnerability: Coastal Dynamics or Dutch Dikes?

The Geographical Journal, 1998
This paper describes coastal resilience as a measure of the extent to which a coast is able to respond to external pressures without losing actual or potential functions. Such usage of the term gives coastal scientists, planners and managers a new opportunity to express complex coastal dynamics in a simple aggregated form.

An Inter-Comparison of Coastal Vulnerability Assessment Methods

2014
In this paper a Coastal Vulnerability Assessment method (CVA) was compared with the well-established CVI method in order to obtain validation data and discuss the different results. The structure of the proposed method relies upon a key parameter, known as impact index Ii, which accounts for wave climate, bathymetry and sediment data and depends on the
