Sputtered Iridium Oxide for Stimulation Electrode Coatings
2007 29th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2007This work deals with the reactive RF-powered sputter deposition of iridium oxide for use as the active stimulation layer in functional medical implants. The oxygen gettered by the growing films is determined by an approach based on generic curves. Films deposited at different stages of oxygen integration show strong differences in electrochemical ...

Coated amperometric electrode arrays for multicomponent analysis
Analytical Chemistry, 1990This paper describes a sensor array of several amperometric electrodes, each coated with a different permselective film. Coatings with different transport properties, based on size (cellulose acetate), charge (Nafion, poly(vinylpyridine), poly(ester sulfonic acid], and polarity (phospholipid) are employed in connection with a four-electrode thin-layer ...

TiN: A Suitable Coating for Defibrillator Electrodes?
Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, 1995The electrochemical behavior of porous TiN coating for defibrillator electrodes was investigated by in vitro studies. A commercially available Ti patch was compared with a Ti patch coated with a layer of porous TiN. Similarly, the influence of the TiN coating on a Pt/Ir intracardial electrode was tested.

Enzyme electrodes based on ionomer films coated on electrodes
Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry, 1993Abstract Experiments are described showing the feasibility of electrical communication between the enzyme glucose oxidase and a ferrocene redox mediator when both are incorporated into a (Nafion®) perfluorosulfonic acid cation-exchange polymer film coated on an electrode.

Dodecyl benzene sulfonate anion-selective electrode based on polyaniline-coated electrode
Talanta, 2004A new dodecyl benzene sulfonate (DBS(-)) ion-selective electrode based on polyaniline is reported. The films of polyaniline doped with DBS(-) were prepared electrochemically on platinum electrodes in the solution containing 1.0x10(-3)M aniline and 7.0x10(-3)M DBS(-).

Bioactive anti‐inflammatory coating for chronic neural electrodes
Journal of Biomedical Materials Research Part A, 2012AbstractChronic electrodes are widely used for brain degenerative and psychiatric daises such as Parkinson's diseases, major depression, and obsessive‐compulsive disorder, and for neuronal prosthesis. Brain immune reaction to electrodes in the form of glial scar encapsulates the electrode and reduces the efficacy of deep brain stimulation and neuronal ...

Electrodeposited coatings for neural electrodes: A review
Biosensors and BioelectronicsNeural electrodes play a pivotal role in ensuring safe stimulation and high-quality recording for various bioelectronics such as neuromodulation devices and brain-computer interfaces. With the miniaturization of electrodes and the increasing demand for multi-functionality, the incorporation of coating materials via electrodeposition to enhance ...

Coated Wire Ion-Selective Electrodes
1980Coated wire electrodes (cwe’s) refer to a type of ion-selective electrode (ise) in which an electroactive species is incorporated in a thin polymeric film coated directly to a metallic conductor. Although this definition is broad enough to include those instances when the electroactive species is heterogeneously dispersed in the polymeric matrix, both ...
