3D (Bio) Printing Combined Fiber Fabrication Methods for Tissue Engineering Applications: Possibilities and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...

Enzyme-Gelatin Electrochemical Biosensors: Scaling Down

open access: yesBiosensors, 2012
In this article we investigate the possibility of scaling down enzyme-gelatin modified electrodes by spin coating the enzyme-gelatin layer. Special attention is given to the electrochemical behavior of the selected enzymes inside the gelatin matrix.

Application of MXene as a new generation of highly conductive coating materials for electromembrane-surrounded solid-phase microextraction

open access: yesNanotechnology Reviews, 2022
For the first time, highly conductive thickly layered two-dimensional titanium carbide (MXene) was applied as a new coating agent for electromembrane-surrounded solid-phase microextraction (SPME) of triadimenol and iprodione as two model analytes ...

Corona at Large Coated Electrodes

open access: yesProceedings of the Nordic Insulation Symposium, 2018
In geometries relevant form HVDC applications where large electrodes and large air gaps are utilized, the observed corona can be quite different from geometries studied in the literature where needles or wires are used as high voltage electrodes. Corona discharges at large electrodes often initiates when the electric field on the electrode surface ...

Zeolite crystal layers coupled to piezoelectric sensors [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
Microporous zeolite crystals were successfully coupled onto the gold electrodes of quartz crystal microbalances (QCM). A self-assembled monolayer of thiol-alkoxysilane coupling agent on the gold surface was used as the interfacial layer to promote ...

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

Fibrin association at hybrid biointerfaces made of clot-binding peptides and polythiophene [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The properties as biointerfaces of electroactive conducting polymer-peptide biocomposites formed by poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) and CREKA or CR(NMe)EKA peptide sequences (where Glu has been replaced by N-methyl-Glu in the latter) have been ...
