Adult-onset Coats’ disease: a review

open access: yesРоссийский офтальмологический журнал
In 1908, George Coats published a paper about a rare form of outer retinopathy with massive exudation. Until today, the causes of the Coats’ disease (CD) has not been revealed and there is no generally accepted model of its pathogenesis.

Coats' disease with retinochoroidal anastomosis

open access: yesOman Journal of Ophthalmology, 2017
A 4-year-old girl presented with decreased vision since 3 months. Visual acuity was 20/20 in right eye and counting fingers at 2 meters in the left. Left eye examination revealed exotropia, retinal telangiectasia, extensive subretinal exudation over the ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

A review of pseudoretinoblastoma cases at a tertiary hospital

open access: yesPhilippine Journal of Ophthalmology, 2010
Objective: To report various intraocular conditions that mimic retinoblastoma. Methods: A review was conducted of eyeballs enucleated for suspected retinoblastoma between 2003 and 2007, and referred for histopathological confirmation.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Expanding horizons of intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor therapy in retinal diseases

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology
Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) plays a central role in the pathogenesis of retinal and choroidal neovascularization, as well as macular edema (ME), in retinal disorders such as diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion (RVO), and age ...

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Triple Trouble with Triple Solutions: A Unique Case Report of a Severe Exudative Retinal Detachment Accompanied by Retinal Traction and Two Retinal Holes in Coats Disease

open access: yesCase Reports in Ophthalmology
Introduction: Coats disease is a rare vasculature pathology that usually presents as retinal telangiectasia with possible progression to exudative retinal detachment (RD).
