A Coaxial Magnetic Gear With Halbach Permanent-Magnet Arrays [PDF]
This paper proposes a coaxial magnetic gear that offers higher torque density, lower cogging torque, and lower iron losses than its counterparts. The key is to newly employ a Halbach permanent-magnet (PM) array to constitute the PM poles in the inner rotor and a partial Halbach array (two segments per pole) for the outer rotor.

Design Aspects of Conical Coaxial Magnetic Gears
In this paper, a new design of a conical coaxial magnetic gear was proposed. Conical magnetic gears are considered a logical link between the radial- and axial-field coaxial designs.

Cost-Effectiveness Comparison of Coaxial Magnetic Gears With Different Magnet Materials [PDF]
This paper presents a comparative study between the nonrare-earth PM and rare-earth PM-based coaxial magnetic gears. First, using finite-element analysis, the electromagnetic performances of four coaxial magnetic gears, which are installed with nonrare- or rare-earth PMs, are analyzed and quantitatively compared based on the same structure.

Comparison of Coaxial Magnetic Gears With Different Topologies [PDF]
This paper quantitatively compares two coaxial magnetic gears (CMGs) with different topologies, namely, the CMG installed with radially magnetized permanent magnets (CMGRM) and the CMG installed with Halbach magnetized permanent magnets (CMGHM). By using the 3D finite element method, the end-effect and the performances of both CMGs are investigated ...

Coaxial Magnetic Gear-Based Tool-Changing System
This paper presents a novel tool-changing mechanism that leverages a coaxial magnetic gear (CMG) with non-contact torque control capability. The non-contact power transmission feature of the magnetic gear provides not only sensorless torque control for ...

Magnetic Loss Analysis in Coaxial Magnetic Gears [PDF]
This paper proposes a procedure for computing magnetic losses in coaxial magnetic gears. These magnetic structures are made of permanent magnets and ferromagnetic poles in relative motion transferring torque between two shafts in a contactless way. The loss computation in magnetic materials is crucial to define the system performance.
