Preliminary Simulation of a Passive Hybrid-Excited Coaxial Magnetic Gear

Control and System Graduate Research Colloquium
Coaxial magnetic gears (CMGs) are widely explored for high torque density applications due to their efficient use of permanent magnets (PMs). However, the volatility in rare earth permanent magnet (REPM) prices, supply scarcity, and environmental ...

Design and Optimization of a Convex-T Coaxial Magnetic Gear with Spoke Structure and Halbach Arrays

International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems, 2023
To enhance the electromagnetic performance of coaxial magnetic gear (CMG), a Convex-T CMG with Spoke structure and Halbach array is proposed. The permanent magnets (PMs) of the inner rotor are Convex-T alternating arrangements, while the PMs of the outer

3D Modelling of a Coaxial Magnetic Gear

2019 11th Electrical Engineering Faculty Conference (BulEF), 2019
In this paper a 3D model of a coaxial magnetic gear has been developed. Typically, magnetic gears are considered as a 2D plane-parallel models. In such models, the edge effects on magnetic field distributions in the forehead of the construction are not estimated where magnetic reluctance is significant especially for shorter length designs.

Cogging Torque Suppression of Inner Rotor in Coaxial Magnetic Gear with Modulator Slots

International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems, 2023
In this paper, a coaxial magnetic gear (CMG) structure with modulator slots is proposed for the suppression of the cogging torque of inner rotor. The added modulator slots in CMG can effectively reduce the magnitude of the cogging torque by extending the

Eddy Current Losses of Coaxial Magnetic Gears

2018 XIII International Conference on Electrical Machines (ICEM), 2018
Reduction of eddy current losses is essential for magnetic gears efficiency enhancement. These losses are resulting in output torque reduction, especially in high rotational speeds and high gear ratios. In this paper, we developed an approach for determination of the eddy current losses of a coaxial magnetic gear.

Analysis on a Novel Coaxial Magnetic Gear

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2011
This paper analyzed the high efficient performance of a novel magnetic gear, which offers several advantages compared to mechanical gears in terms of reducing maintenance, improving reliability and inherent overload protection. The magnetic gear, based on step motor principle, was analyzed on transmission torque both statically and dynamically.
