Multi-objective optimization of coaxial magnetic gears

International Journal of Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics, 2018
In this paper multi-objective optimization techniques are applied to the design of magnetic gears in order to maximize the performances and to obtain a competitive device. A parallelized stochastic algorithm is implemented and an analytical tool based on magnetic fields computation and losses estimation is used to compute the multi-objective function ...

Optimization of Coaxial Magnetic Gear Design and Magnet Material Grade at Different Temperatures and Gear Ratios

IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 2021
Magnetic gears, like mechanical gears, transform power between different speeds and torques; however, magnetic gears’ contactless nature provides inherent potential benefits over mechanical gears. A genetic algorithm was used to optimize magnetic gears at different temperatures across a range of gear ratios.

Magnetic Materials for Coaxial Magnetic Gear Torque Density Enchainment

2020 21st International Symposium on Electrical Apparatus & Technologies (SIELA), 2020
In this paper are analyzed different soft and hard magnetic materials for coaxial magnetic gears torque enhancement. Estimation of material properties impact over the magnetic gear input and output torques is implemented by finite element method model. The modelling is carried out by Ansys-Maxwell software.

Comparison of Reluctance and Surface Permanent Magnet Coaxial Magnetic Gears

2020 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE), 2020
The noncontact operation of magnetic gears offers significant potential advantages over mechanical gears. Reluctance magnetic gears (RMGs) have been proposed as an alternative to surface permanent magnet gears (SPMGs) at high speeds. This paper explains the operating principles of RMGs and provides a thorough parametric comparison between RMGs and ...

Vibration and Noise Analysis of a Coaxial Magnetic Gear

2019 II International Conference on High Technology for Sustainable Development (HiTech), 2019
In the present work are estimated vibration and noise spectrums of a coaxial magnetic gear under no-load operational conditions. The developed approach is used to incorporate three different types of vibration analyzes: random vibration, response spectrum and harmonic response analyzes, based on modal analysis results. Finite element method modeling is

Comparison of Radial Force at Modulating Pieces in Coaxial Magnetic Gear and Magnetic Geared Machine

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2018
Unlike the coaxial magnetic gear (CMG), the magnetic geared machine (MGM) has the ac armature winding on the inner part or the outer part. Besides, the PM excitation field of the CMG and the ac armature field of the MGM have different space harmonic components of magnetic field from one other.

Comparison of Coaxial Magnetic Gears With and Without Magnetic Conducting Ring

IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 2016
This paper quantitatively compares four coaxial magnetic gears (CMGs) with and without magnetic conducting ring (MCR), which are artfully integrated into a permanent-magnet (PM) machine. In addition, different gear ratios are investigated for both topologies.
