Torque and Power Density of Coaxial Magnetic Gears

2019 II International Conference on High Technology for Sustainable Development (HiTech), 2019
In the present work, the recent positive trend in torque and power density of the coaxial magnetic gears is discussed. Timeline of magnetic gears development according to design topology and magnetic materials improvements is presented. Five generations of magnetic gears are recognized according to the torque density limitations.

Design of Coaxial Magnetic Gear Mechanisms Using Taguchi Method

202020 3rd IEEE International Conference on Knowledge Innovation and Invention (ICKII), 2020
Magnetic gear has various advantages related to its capability as contactless moving gear with no lubrication and its overload protection ability. The magnetic gears are commonly used as a transmission that demands high torque characteristics. This paper aims to perceive the effects of the design parameters of Coaxial Magnetic Gear (CMG) on the ...

Comparison of Radial Force at Modulating Pieces in Coaxial Magnetic Gear and Magnetic Geared Machine

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2018
Unlike the coaxial magnetic gear (CMG), the magnetic geared machine (MGM) has the ac armature winding on the inner part or the outer part. Besides, the PM excitation field of the CMG and the ac armature field of the MGM have different space harmonic components of magnetic field from one other.

Harmonic analysis of the magnetic field of a coaxial magnetic gear

2017 15th International Conference on Electrical Machines, Drives and Power Systems (ELMA), 2017
In this paper two constructions of a coaxial magnetic gear (CMG) have been investigated. A 2D time dependent Finite Element Method (FEM) models of the two constructions have been implemented. A harmonic analysis of the gears' magnetic fields and output dynamic torques are performed. The FEM modelling is carried out by ANSYS Maxwell software.

Comparison of Coaxial Magnetic Gears With and Without Magnetic Conducting Ring

IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 2016
This paper quantitatively compares four coaxial magnetic gears (CMGs) with and without magnetic conducting ring (MCR), which are artfully integrated into a permanent-magnet (PM) machine. In addition, different gear ratios are investigated for both topologies.

Comparison of coaxial magnetic gears with parallel and series magnetic circuits

2016 Eleventh International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER), 2016
This paper quantitatively compares two coaxial magnetic gears (CMGs) with parallel magnetic circuit and series magnetic circuit, which are artfully integrated into a permanent magnet (PM) brushless DC motor. By using the finite-element method, the performances of both CMGs are compared and evaluated.

Eddy current losses in permanent magnets of a coaxial magnetic gear

2018 20th International Symposium on Electrical Apparatus and Technologies (SIELA), 2018
In the present work, eddy current losses in permanent magnets of a coaxial magnetic gear construction are estimated. Transient finite element method model is implemented for eddy currents calculation in dynamic operational mode. Simulations in different rotational speeds are performed and results for the eddy currents demagnetization effect over the ...

Study on cogging torque in coaxial planetary magnetic gear

2016 IEEE 2nd Annual Southern Power Electronics Conference (SPEC), 2016
In this paper, the cogging torque in coaxial planetary magnetic gear (CPMG) is investigated. The known method for estimation the cogging torque fundamental frequency in permanent magnet synchronous machines is adapted to the double-rotor structure of the CPMG.
