A rank 2 Dijkgraaf-Moore-Verlinde-Verlinde formula [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We conjecture a formula for the virtual elliptic genera of moduli spaces of rank 2 sheaves on minimal surfaces $S$ of general type. We express our conjecture in terms of the Igusa cusp form $\chi_{10}$ and Borcherds type lifts of three quasi-Jacobi forms

Hevea brasiliensis seeds: A novel sustainable feedstock for ethanol production

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Chemistry, EarlyView.
Abstract The rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis) is cultivated on a large scale mainly for the extraction of latex in Brazil and Southeast Asia, also generating large quantities of seeds. These seeds currently do not have large‐scale applications and may thus be considered as a residue.

Long term predictions on the population dynamics of two contrasting demersal fishing resources in the western Mediterranean

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
In the context of global change, studying the synergic effects of climate and marine resources is key to understanding and predicting their impact on exploited stocks and improving adaptive fisheries management.

Feeding Management of African Rhinos (Ceratotherium simum, Diceros bicornis) in European Zoos

open access: yesZoo Biology, EarlyView.
The average estimated diets (in % dry matter) of white rhinos (C. simum) and black rhinos (D. bicornis) in European zoos differ in the proportion of (pelleted) compound feed and other non‐forage items. The reason for this difference is elusive but possibly related to creating more complicated diets for browsers. ABSTRACT White rhinos (WR, Ceratotherium

Multilocus sequence typing of the invasive pest Halyomorpha halys (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) and associated endosymbiont reveals unexplored diversity

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
A multilocus sequence typing approach is proposed to explore Halymorpha halys genetic diversity, taking into consideration both insect nuclear markers and markers from the gut symbiont “Candidatus Pantoa carbekii.” Increased information was revealed regarding the number of distinct holobiont haplotypes in native and invasive populations of the pest ...

Chromosome‐scale genome assembly of the South American fruit fly, Anastrepha fraterculus sp.1

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Anastrepha fraterculus sp. 1 is a major fruit fly pest in Argentina, currently controlled through chemical treatments and traps. This study aims to enhance the genomic understanding of this species to support the development of sterile insect technique as well as the use of innovative technologies.

The Viability of Harvesting Corn Cobs and Stover for Biofuel Production in North Dakota [PDF]

open access: yes
This study examines the impact of stochastic harvest field time, corn cob and stover harvest technologies, increases in farm size, and alternative tillage practices on profit maximizing potential of corn cob and stover collection in North Dakota.

Degree of insecticide exposure and access to nectar impact survival of Trissolcus japonicus, a hymenopteran parasitoid, in flowering border strips

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, EarlyView.
We applied three thiamethoxam spray treatments to buckwheat border strips: control (no nearby spray), drift (adjacent peach trees directly sprayed) and direct spray (buckwheat and peaches directly sprayed). Drift‐treated buckwheat received about 1.4% the amount of thiamethoxam as direct‐spray buckwheat. This amount has no lethal effects on parasitoids,

Molecular IgE Reactivity Profiling With Micro‐Arrayed Allergens Reveals Distinct Interregional Patterns of Sensitization and a Hypoallergenic Region in Türkiye

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
A prospective, systematic and cross‐sectional population study was performed involving 1000 adult subjects from five centers representing different climatic areas of Türkiye (Turkey). Molecular IgE profiling demonstrated substantial interregional variation and identified a hypoallergenic region in the easternmost area with a continental climate.

Forecasting Inland Waterway Container on Barge Volume: A Machine Learning Approach Using Economic Features

open access: yesApplied Artificial Intelligence
This study presents a machine learning approach to predict Container-on-Barge (COB) volume in Inland Waterway Transportation (IWT) systems, focusing exclusively on using economic features as predictors.
