Recent progress in studies of the last million years of human physical and behavioural evolution Avancées récentes dans l’étude du dernier million d'années d’évolution physique et éthologique de l'espèce humaine

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, EarlyView.
This article presents a synthesis of recent developments in the study of human evolution over the past five years. It begins with an overview of hominin species nomenclature and diversity, followed by an examination of the proposed population bottleneck ∼900,000 years ago.

Estimating Web Application Development Effort Using Web-COBRA and COSMIC: An Empirical Study

open access: yes, 2009
Even if the adaptation of the COBRA method to the web has many appealing characteristics, its effectiveness in predicting Web application development effort has been previously assessed only in one empirical study, using the Web Objects measure.

Research of Neutron-thermal Hydraulic Coupling Calculation Method in Fast Reactor Code System MOSASAUR

open access: yesYuanzineng kexue jishu
The nuclear reactor core is a highly heterogeneous system where various physical phenomena are interrelated and coupled. The complex coupled interaction necessitates multi-physics calculations to realize more accurate and realistic simulations in core ...

Longitudinal changes in peritoneal solute transport rate and the impact of lower glucose degradation product glucose dialysates

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, Volume 29, Issue 3, Page 471-478, June 2025.
Abstract Introduction Peritoneal solute transfer rates (PSTR) are reported to increase with time. Changes in PSTR were reviewed in long‐term peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients to determine whether lower glucose degradation products (low GDP) dialysates prevented an increase in PSTR. Methods PSTR was determined with a 4‐h peritoneal equilibrium test with

Analysing the Circular Economies and Waste Management of European Countries via Decision Models [PDF]

open access: yesPresent Environment and Sustainable Development
Today, waste management is a highly significant priority for the European Union. In 1975, the EU passed the first legislation on waste management, the Framework Directive on Waste, which laid the foundation for the EU's current waste management strategy.

Luminescence dating of coastal deposits from the Chanthaburi Plain, Thailand

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
The ongoing global sea‐level rise urges us to better understand the dynamics of coastal processes for predicting future changes. Sedimentary deposits reflect past coastal environments but require precise chronological data to place evidence into a temporal context.

COBRA-SFS Thermal-Hydraulic Analysis Code for Spent-Fuel Storage and Transportation Casks: Models and Methods

open access: yesNuclear Technology, 2017
AbstractCOBRA-SFS, a thermal-hydraulic code developed for steady-state and transient analysis of multiassembly spent-fuel storage and transportation systems, has been incorporated into the Used Nuclear Fuel-Storage, Transportation and Disposal Analysis Resource and Data System tool as a module devoted to spent-fuel-package thermal analysis.

Surface X-Ray Diffraction Results on the III-V Droplet Heteroepitaxy Growth Process for Quantum Dots: Recent Understanding and Open Questions

open access: yesSensors, 2011
In recent years, epitaxial growth of self-assembled quantum dots has offered a way to incorporate new properties into existing solid state devices. Although the droplet heteroepitaxy method is relatively complex, it is quite relaxed with respect to the ...

Spiders in the mosaic: How habitat heterogeneity and structure drive local spider diversity in a Mediterranean forest

open access: yesEcological Entomology, EarlyView.
We assessed alpha‐ and beta‐diversity patterns of spiders across different forests and across vegetation layers (ground, shrub, low canopy) at local spatial scales across various Mediterranean forest types. Across forests, alpha‐diversity increased with habitat heterogeneity, which also drove beta‐diversity patterns across plots .
