Cocos Nucifera L.

Coconut palm (Cocos nucifera) (Arecaceae) is ubiquitous in the tropics. In line with its intended use, this plant is given names such as "tree of heaven" and "tree of life". Coconut haustorium, which is rich in nutrients, has a nutritional composition of approximately 66% carbohydrates. Approximately 66% of the composition consists of carbohydrates, of

Coconut (Cocos nucifera) Oil

2019
The coconut (Cocos nucifera L., family Arecaceae) is an important fruit tree in the world. Copra, the dried kernel, is mainly used for oil extraction. Coconut oil is one of the most important edible oils for domestic use. The oil is rich in medium chain fatty acids (MCFA) and exhibits good digestibility.

Development of microsatellite markers in Cocos nucifera and their application in evaluating the level of genetic diversity of Cocos nucifera [PDF]

open access: possible, 2013
Cocos nucifera (coconut) is an economically important tropical crop, but opportunities for molecular breeding are limited by lack of DNA sequence information for this species. Previous assessments of coconut germplasm have been conducted based solely on phenotypic data for agronomic and quality traits, due to lack of available molecular markers.

Coconut (Cocos nucifera L.): Micropropagation

1990
Despite the increasing production of soybean and palm oils over the last two decades, coconut oil remains an important product on the world market as it is one of only two commercial sources of short-chain fatty acids with 8–14 carbon atoms. Coconut oil is thus in direct competition with only one other such source, that being palm kernel oil.
