Coculture and Long-Term Maintenance of Hepatocytes

2014
The liver is the largest internal organ in mammals, serving a wide spectrum of vital functions. Loss of liver function due to drug toxicity, progressive fatty liver disease, or viral infection is a major cause of death in the United States of America.

Methylation of monomethyltin by a bacterial coculture

Geomicrobiology Journal, 1990
Abstract Mixed cultures derived from Boston Harbor sediments, which gave evidence of methylating tin compounds, yielded two isolates, each a Bacillus sp., which methylated CH3SnCl3 to form (CH3)3SnX in coculture. Neither organism alone gave evidence of methylation. SnCl4 and (CH3)2SnCl2 were not methylated.

Degradation of thiocyanate by a bacterial coculture

Biotechnology Letters, 1994
A bacterial coculture capable of growing on thiocyanate has been isolated from thiocyanate adapted bacterial suspension of urban sewage treatment plant. The coculture is composed of two bacteria identified as species Acinetobacter johnsonii and Pseudomonas diminuta. The two end products of thiocyanate conversion are ammonia and sulfate. The thiosulfate

Infecting Mouse Embryos by Coculturing with Lentivirus

Cold Spring Harbor Protocols, 2018
Lentiviral vectors make it possible to produce transgenic animals without the need to purchase expensive microinjection equipment because integration of the transgene is possible by coculture of embryos with virus. This protocol describes the infection of fertilized oocytes with lentivirus by coculture.
