SUMMARY An accurate method is developed to characterize the seismic coda phases recorded by smallaperture arrays. The coda is modelled as a superposition of several interfering wavelets identified by their arrival time, frequency content, backazimuth and apparent velocity of propagation.

Attenuation of coda waves in southern Tibet
The alternation characteristics of the crust in the southernmost Tibetan plateau are determined from analysis of S‐wave coda recorded at a temporary broadband station deployed during the 1994 INDEPTH‐II experiment. A method for determiningQcis developed which utilizes the coda spectrogram observed at a single station.

Abstract During their life cycle, prestressed concrete bridges are prone to wire breaks of their tendons due to fatigue or stress corrosion cracking. However, not all structures show visible cracking on the surface, which would provide timely warning of otherwise invisible damage. Brittle failure may occur.
