The construction and development of the so-called Big Data systems has occupied centerstage in the data management community in recent years. However, there has been comparatively little attention paid to the testing of such systems, an essential pre-requisite for successful deployment. This is surprising given that

1982
The paper describes the implementation of the data structuring concepts of domains, intra-tuple constraints and referential constraints in the relational DBMS CODD. All of these constraints capture some of the semantics of the database’s application. Each class of constraint is described briefly and it is shown how each of them is specified.

A foundation of CODD's relational maybe-operations
ACM Transactions on Database Systems, 1983Database relations which possibly contain maybe-tuples and null values of type “value at present unknown” are studied. Maybe-tuples and null values are formally interpreted by our notion of representation , which uses classical notions of predicate logic, elaborates Codd's proposal of maybe-tuples, and adopts Reiter'

It is a cliche that the Internet has revolutionized many aspects of life in the past decade. Scientific publishing is but one of the many enterprises that have been impacted by the connectivity and high bandwidth afforded by the World Wide Web. Most scientific journals now have a web presence.

On Codd Families of Keys over Incomplete Relations
The Computer Journal, 2010Keys allow a database management system to uniquely identify tuples in a database. Consequently, the class of keys is of great significance for almost all data processing tasks. In the relational model of data, keys have received considerable interest and are well understood.
