Private information retrieval from coded databases

We consider the problem of private information retrieval (PIR) over a distributed storage system. The storage system consists of N non-colluding databases, each storing an MDS-coded version of M messages. In the PIR problem, the user wishes to retrieve one of the available messages without revealing the message identity to any individual database.

Proofs of Retrievability (PoR) allows a client (verifier) to store a file at an untrusted remote storage, and later be able to check the integrity of the file through an interactive challenge-response protocol. A challenge specifies a random subset of blocks and the response is a function of the challenged block.
