Summary: We introduce a biologically motivated measure of sequence similarity for quaternary \(N\)-sequences, extending Hamming similarity. This measure is the sum over the length of the sequences of ``alphabetic'' similarities at all positions. Alphabetic similarities are defined, symmetrically, on the Cartesian square of the alphabet.

Disguising Code to Help Students Understand Code Similarity
Koli Calling '20: Proceedings of the 20th Koli Calling International Conference on Computing Education Research, 2020To act with academic integrity in programming, students need to understand the concept of code similarity and the aspects that contribute to it, because undue similarity is often used as a first step in detecting plagiarism or collusion. However, if students are told at all about code similarity, it is typically in very general terms, which might not ...

Detection of semantically similar code
Frontiers of Computer Science, 2014The traditional similar code detection approaches are limited in detecting semantically similar codes, impeding their applications in practice. In this paper, we have improved the traditional metrics-based approach as well as the graph-based approach and presented a metrics-based and graph-based combined approach. First, source codes are represented as
