Detecting source code similarity using code abstraction
Proceedings of the 7th International Conference on Ubiquitous Information Management and Communication, 2013Various approaches have been proposed to develop effective methods to measure program similarity. Even commercial tools and freeware tools are available for measuring program similarity based on source code comparison. These tools are quite useful to handle small to middle scale software products, but limited for large scale software products.

A knowledge base for code reuse by similarity
[1989] Proceedings of the Thirteenth Annual International Computer Software & Applications Conference, 2003A description is given of WharfRat, a knowledge base of data type implementations which employs case-based reasoning as its primary retrieval mechanism. Given a description of an abstract data type, it retrieves the most similar data type implementation in the knowledge base.

Visual Analysis of Source Code Similarities
2015 19th International Conference on Information Visualisation, 2015Software systems typically consist of many lines of source code organized in several files hierarchically structured into directories and packages. Since the code is the key data in software development, in many scenarios an overview of it is required, in particular for similar code passages.

Selection of Code Segments for Exclusion from Code Similarity Detection
Proceedings of the 2020 ACM Conference on Innovation and Technology in Computer Science Education, 2020When student programs are compared for similarity, certain segments of code are always sure to be similar. Some of these segments are boilerplate code -- public static void main String [] args and the like -- and some will be code that was provided to students as part of the assessment specification. The purpose of this working group is to explore what

DNA codes for generalized stem similarity
2011 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory Proceedings, 2011The concept of a generalized stem similarity function and the corresponding DNA codes are introduced. We give parameters for some optimal constructions called maximum distance separable DNA codes and obtain bounds on the maximum size of DNA codes.

Code Similarity in Clone Detection
2021Clone detection is one application of measuring the similarity of code. However, clone and plagiarism detectors use very different representations of source code and different techniques to identify similar code fragments. This chapter investigates the impact of source code representation (i.e. tokenisation and renaming of identifiers and literals) and

Structural Similarity Sparse Coding
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences, 2014Sparse coding theory demonstrates that the neurons in primary visual cortex form a sparse representation of natural scenes in the viewpoint of statistics. In this paper, we propose a novel sparse co ding model based on structural similarity for natural image patch feature extraction.
