Consolidation Coefficient Calculation Based on Consolidation Rate Attenuation Method
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012This paper proposes a new partial-analytical consolidation coefficient calculation method as consolidation rate attenuation method based on the 1st-order series solution to one-dimensional Terzaghi theory. According to the consolidation rate attenuation curves, consolidation coefficient can be obtained by the linear attenuation part fitting.

Assessment of the coefficient of consolidation with Queensland data
Australian Geomechanics Journal, 2023Established relationships between the coefficient of consolidation (cv) and index tests are used during both preliminary design and as a cross check during detailed design. The laboratory oedometer test provides compressibility parameters and a lower bound of cv, while the coefficients of consolidation are preferred from the field dissipation tests ...

Effect of Clay Mineralogy on Coefficient of Consolidation
Clays and Clay Minerals, 1998The coefficient of consolidation (Cv) signifies the rate at which a saturated clay undergoes 1-dimensional consolidation when subjected to an increase in pres- sure. Measured in cm2/s, C~ is a function of hydraulic conductivity, k (crn/s), coefficient of volume change, mv (cm2/kg), and unit weight of pore fluid, ~w (kg/cm3), and is expressed as:

Coefficient of consolidation from piezocone measurements
Géotechnique, 2005Pore pressure dissipation tests were carried out employing two miniature piezocones, with areas of 1 cm2 and 5 cm2, in a bed of reconstituted kaolin. By using independently determined values of the coefficient of consolidation, the results were interpreted to derive appropriate values of rigidity index for use with the theory of Teh & Houlsby.

Coefficient of Consolidation by the Slope Method
Geotechnical Testing Journal, 2008Abstract The slope method explicitly relates the coefficient of consolidation cv to the slope of the initial linear segment of the observed δt-t curve and to the end of primary settlement δp. The slope method utilizes the same graphical construction as the Taylor method but eliminates the use of the factor 1.15 that usually leads to ...

Coefficient of Consolidation by Inflection Point Method
Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, 1999The coefficient of consolidation in the Terzaghi theory of consolidation has been commonly determined by fitting the theory to observed compression with time in an incremental loading oedometer test. The Terzaghi theory is applicable to compression and swelling. A similar coefficient governed by horizontal permeability is used in the Barron formulation

Coefficient of consolidation by end of arc method
Journal of Central South University, 2015One of the most important issues in geotechnical engineering is excess pore pressure caused by clay soil loading and consolidation. Regarding uncertainties and complexities, this issue has long been the subject of attention of many researchers. In this work, a one-dimensional consolidation apparatus was equipped in a way that pore water pressure and ...

A New Method for the Determination of Coefficient of Consolidation
Geotechnical Testing Journal, 1992Abstract The time factor, T, and the degree of consolidation, U, from Terzaghi's theory of consolidation can be shown to have a bilinear behavior when plotted as log (U/T) versus log T. Using this property, a method is proposed for the evaluation of the coefficient of consolidation, Cv.

A new method for evaluating the coefficient of consolidation
2011 International Conference on Electric Technology and Civil Engineering (ICETCE), 2011Based on Therzaghi's one dimensional consolidation theory, a new method for evaluating coefficient of consolidation is proposed in this paper, which is more convenient than Casagrande's logt method and Taylor's √t method. Consolidation and permeability combined tests by GDS advanced consolidation testing system show that the coefficient of ...
