The coefficient of friction for yarns
Journal of the Franklin Institute, 1936Abstract In view of the importance of the frictional characteristics in the manufacture of yarns and in the final appearance of textile products, a method has been devised with which it is possible to determine the coefficient of friction of individual yarns in absolute figures.

The coefficients of friction and wear
Il Nuovo Cimento, 1958The combination of the Savage surface energy and the Bowden and Tabor junction formation mechanisms of production of frictional energy is suggested. The physical description of the experiments is sufficiently simplified and represented by a stable state which envelopes the whole field of friction.

The coefficient of friction of metals
Wear, 1964Abstract It is shown that the measured coefficient of friction of a number of metals is in reasonable agreement with values calculated using expressions based on simple theories.

THE ordinary static friction apparatus with one mass m hanging over a pulley and connected to another mass M resting on the friction board may be used to determine the kinetic coefficient. Let m be more than sufficient just to move M, and let h be the vertical height over which m is allowed to accelerate M; then, if x is the extra distance along the ...

Skin-friction coefficient is analyzed with consideration of variable physical properties. The skin velocity gradient is the only one unknown variable for evaluation of the skin-friction coefficient. Systems of numerical solutions on the skin velocity gradient are obtained with consideration of variable physical properties.
