Approximation of the conductivity coefficient in the heat equation

Applicable Analysis, 2014
In this paper, we study the conductivity coefficient determination in the heat equation from observation of the lateral Dirichlet-to-Neumann map. We define a bilinear form function Qγ associated to the boundary condition and the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map, and prove that the linearized problem d Qγ is injective.

Determination of the heat transfer coefficients in transient heat conduction

Inverse Problems, 2013
The determination of the space- or time-dependent heat transfer coefficient which links the boundary temperature to the heat flux through a third-kind Robin boundary condition in transient heat conduction is investigated. The reconstruction uses average surface temperature measurements.

Heat conductivity of a body with variable heat exchange coefficient

Journal of Engineering Physics, 1969
The heat conduction problem for a half-space and a plate with a time dependent coefficient of heat exchange is solved. The solution is obtained by the combined utilization of an operational and a successive approximations method.

Determining Unknown Coefficients in a Nonlinear Heat Conduction Problem

SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 1973
This paper considers the problem of determining the positive unknown functions $a( u ),b( u )$ and the unknown function$u = u( {x,t} )$ in the nonlinear diffusion equation$a( u )u_t = ( {b( u )u_x } )_x ,x > 0,t > 0$, from boundary and initial data and the additionally specified “flux” at the boundary, $ - b( {u( {0,t} )} )u_x ( {0,t} ) = g( t )$.

Heat conduction with variable heat transmission coefficients

Journal of engineering physics, 1973
An analytical method is shown for determining the temperature field of a body whose variable thermophysical properties are functions of the space coordinates. The problem is solved for a plate and for a cylinder where the thermal conductivity is an exponential function of one space coordinate.

Heat Conduction at a Variable Heat-Transfer Coefficient

High Temperature, 2019
Some practically important problems of unsteady heat conduction with a time-variable relative heat-transfer coefficient are considered. Various approaches to finding a solution to the analytical problem are systematized: decomposition of the generalized integral Fourier transform, the serial expansion of a sought temperature function, and the reduction
