Comment on ‘Coefficient of performance of Stirling refrigerators’

European Journal of Physics, 2020
Abstract This comment examines an article that develops a counterclockwise reversible Stirling cycle whose coefficient of performance equals that of a Carnot refrigerator. Unfortunately, among other issues, the proposed cycle is never in thermodynamic equilibrium and thus cannot match an idealized reversible Carnot.

On the Performance of a Test for Coefficient of Variation

Calcutta Statistical Association Bulletin, 1992
Approximate standard errors (s.e) of sample coefficient of variation (c.v.) are available in the literature (Kendall and Stuart, 1977; Serfting 1980). Using these s.e.'s a large sample test can be constructed to test for the specified value of population c.v. The test can also be justified on the principles of Wald test.

Linear irreversible thermodynamics and coefficient of performance

Physical Review E, 2006
Following the recent proposal by Van den Broeck for a heat engine [Phys. Rev. Lett. 95, 190602 (2005)], we analyze the coefficient of performance of a refrigerator in two working regimes using the tools of linear irreversible thermodynamics. In particular, one of the analyzed regimes gives a coefficient of performance which could be considered as the ...

Learning performance of coefficient-based regularized ranking

Neurocomputing, 2014
The regularized kernel methods for ranking problem have attracted increasing attention recently, which are usually based on the regularization scheme in a reproducing kernel Hilbert space. In this paper, we go beyond this framework by investigating the generalization ability of ranking with coefficient-based regularization.

Improved EASI coefficients: Their derivation, values, and performance

Journal of Electrocardiology, 2002
The EASI lead system, which is based on the dipole hypothesis of vectorcardiography, offers the possibility of deriving the standard 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) and other desired leads from ECGs recorded at only 4 sites; it uses the Frank E, A, and I electrode locations, a fourth electrode location (S) at the manubrium, and a reference electrode ...
